Good Books to Help with Toddler Behavior

I've read tons of books and found that they all say the same thing but with different points of view. I'd suggest you read a few that have worked for people on the board, find the one that best suits your personality and stick to it. My husband and I agreed that we'd pick a book and do whatever it said TOGETHER and it has worked beautifully. People comment all the time about how well behaved our kids are and I know I can take them anywhere any time without ever being embarassed of bad behavior. Also, I'ver required that my babysitters read the same two I did and stick to it as well. The consistency is great for them.

By the way... My research led me to: Love & Logic Parenting The Toddler Years by Jim Fey and someone else whose name escapes me and the other book is Between Parent and Child by Dr. Haim Ginott. Written a long time ago, but still relevant.

As Giselle stated, find one that you can live with, and stick to it. In other words, consistency is key. In my home, we practice 1-2-3 Magic, by Thomas Phelan.

I recently read a great book on the subject, but I can't remember the title. I read a lot:) The author is Becky Freeman, she has many great books. Her book on raising preschoolers gives a lot of good ideas and I found it very helpful.

The DQ Factor. It is very good for all ages of children if you actually apply what the books suggests.

Lots of good disciple books out there--go to library or book store and see what meets your fancy :)

I'm reading: What to Expect: The Toddler Years. It's just as useful as it's sister book - What to Expect When You're Expecting.

I just finished reading Positive Discipline -the first three years by Jane nelsen,Cherl Erwin ,and Rosyln Duffy. It's got a softer approach no time outs you were naughty stuff :)So for it's helped us with our twins. It helps you understand that they really aren't naughty just being toddlers and doing things we don't want them to do. Also , I am reading Chick Moorman's The 10 Commitments, Paarenting with purpose.Also, a little less punishing and a lot more discipline(teaching). Hope these help!

I will recommend books for your toddler as opposed to books for you. Any/all books by Mercer Mayer. He has written books for all toddler issues including but certainly not limited to: new siblings, loss, temper tantrums, being independent, having only 1 parent, being messy, going to the doctor/dentist. These are the ones we are going through in my daycare. I believe there are around 25 or so different topics. There is one for absolutely anything you, or your toddler are dealing with.
