I went to my Dermatologist and they gave me Aclaro, it is pricey. However, it worked for me. It is prescription, however it lasts a long time.

I've had them off and on for years. The condition is called Melasma. The sun can make the spots worse, but it is not the sole reason we get them. It is a hormonal condition which is why we can get them around pregnancy. With some people they fade after pregnancy and with others (like me) they are a constant battle. Microdermabrasions and peels won't really take care of the problem, and as someone pointed out already, they CAN make them worse. Laser is questionable, as there is no guarantee they will fade after spending the money on the procedure. What has worked for me are products with the ingredient "hydroquinone". Obagi, which I buy through my dermatologist, sells a line that gives excellent results although it is a constant battle. The product can cause some drying (but who cares as long as the spots are fading!) and it also clears skin, for anyone with acne problems. It is a serious regimene that requires dedication, but if you want the spots gone, it does work. It is a systemic drug, so you have to be careful not to use it too long. I think they require you to take a break from it after 4 months, and you don't have to use it that long if you don't want to. Also, it is not safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

I use a line called Murad (Dr. Murad), environmental shield. You can purchase at Ulta or at the salon inside Lifetime fitness (you don't have to be a member to go to salon). The line has worked very well for me. My spots were caused by my 2nd pregnancy and after using the murad line for 4wks my discoloration was gone. My esthetician is the one who referred me to this line. You can check out the website just google Dr. Murad.

Good luck.

I am so happy to know that someone else has this problem besides me! Unfortunately, I cannot get rid of them either. I hope you get some good suggestions. I have tried the expensive creams to no avail! I was wondering if I may have to have a chemical peel or something. Thanks for asking this question :)

I had a couple of issues with the spots and I still do IF I do not use my sunscreen daily. As for circles, per my Dr., there is NO creme out there that will make dark circles go away.

I saw Dr. Allen Menter at Baylor donwtown (he is the best). I used some creme he gave me along with my regular skin care routine of Clinique. Clinique also has a product called turnaround that helps fade the spots. I use the Repairwear series along with Clinique sunscreen and full product line. I Love it. I've used CLinique since I was about 12. I am almost 47, YIKES, and I easily pass for early 30's.

Be careful with peels and microdermabrasion.....I did a couple of peels and ended up looking worse.

Good luck!

My daughter is almost 4 and I have not been able to get rid of the two spots on my face. The creams my dermatologist gave me have not even worked. They have faded a little, but not very much.
I think I'm going to try microdermabrasion and if that doesn't work my dermatologist said he can use a laser.
Sorry I don't have better news. Good luck!

I have them, too. My mom had one big one on her cheek for years, & she had tried every cream out there. Nothing worked. So she had her plastic surgeon do laser therapy (don't know specific name) on it, & it disappeared. She wished she had done it years ago.

Check with your local Mary Kay lady. My sister sells it (in Las Vegas) and she says there is something that is supposed to remove them.

Hope it helps.

I got huge spots on my face when I was pregnant as well. I tried EVERYTHING to get rid of them. NOTHING worked. The only thing that came close to "fading" them is a product Avon sells that basically tricks the eye by reflecting the light. Still, it does not actually fade or cover them. I have since started my own Avon business and would be happy to give you some samples to try if you would like. That would be my suggestion for anything you choose to try - get samples first. See if you like the results before you spend lots of money on stuff that just will NOT remove what your hormones have triggered. They will eventually go away when your hormone levels return to normal. It took a little over a year for mine to completely go away.

Let me know if you would like me to send you some samples. I an in Fort Worth, but will gladly mail you some samples.

I have a skin care health and wellness company.

We have an excellent eye cream that has a natural bleaching agent in it that will lighten those spots.

It's one of my favorite products and is the only thing that has ever lightened my dark circles even remotely.

Please let me know if you'd like more information.

Thanks and God bless!
