I'm sure I'm going to feel really stupid after getting a couple answers back, but at the moment, I'm at a loss.. Is it possible to get pregnant like a couple days before you start?? I've heard of people getting pregnant while on their period, but I wasnt sure how all the timing worked out. Thanks for the help in advance!

What can I do next?

I highly suggest you get the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Dr. Toni Weschler. It is very unlikely a woman would get pregnant a few days prior to their period. The hormones which cause the lining to shed occur after ovulation.

A woman is only able to conceive in a 24 hour period which normally occurs 10 - 16 days after day 1 of her period. The next period normally occurs 24 - 28 days after day 1. Every woman is different and every woman's cycle is different from month to month. The book I recommended helps a woman to know her body and to know her cycles to be able to know when she can achieve/avoid pregnancy.

I hope this helps!

Your best chance is during ovulation, about 7-10 days after your period begins. That said...anything is possible!

You can get pregnant any time. It is just not as likely as during your ovulation time which could be around the 14th day after you start your period depending on how long your cycle is.

When I was trying to get pregnant, my doc told me most women conceive between 7 - 11 days after their period ends. I've never read the Take Charge book, but this 7 - 11 day advice fits within the timeframe Jodi mentioned. I do know stress can affect your period so try not to worry about it too much or that could delay you and then cause you to worry more.

I am not sure if this is good news, or bad, but yep, you can! I did...like one day before I thought I should be starting my period!! (Well, unless I got pregnant before even though we used protection!!) I am currently 16 weeks pregnant with that little bonus, making for our 5th child!! Yeah us:) ~A.~
