Getting Candle Wax Out of Carpet

I was burning a candle and went to pick it up to see if it was out and when I picked the glass container up the glass broke in half and the candle wax got all over the carpet. Of course, the wax is now stuck to the carpet. What have you used to get the wax out of carpet. My carpet is beige and the wax is lavender so you can see it.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you for all of your responses. Wow, I can't believe that using an iron and a paper bag really works, but it did!!!! After reading all of the responses as soon as I got home tonight I tried it and was just amazed. Thank you so much for the information. The lavender color even came out so I won't need to use any carpet cleaner. Yeah!!!!

That happened to me too! What I did that worked was take paper towels in a single layer and put an iron on a medium setting, not too hot tho. Put the paper towel over the wax and gently run the iron over the spot and keep using the paper towels until it disappears. Worked like a charm for me. Good luck and keep us posted!!!

L.,

I have been told if you use a clothes iron heated up and put wax paper over the spilled waxed and it should heat up enough and go on the wax paper.

I hope it works

Put a paper bag over the wax and an iron on top of it. Move the iron around as if you were ironing the carpet. The wax will dissolve into the paper bag. Good luck!

Put a brown paper bag on the spot and a warm iron over the bag. It will melt the wax and the paper bag will absorb it. Make sure to move the paper around, too, so it doesn't get too saturated and can really absorb. Always works for me, hope it works for you!

I, too, am a PartyLite consultant. The brown paper bag and iron method works the best, as I've had many customers spill wax on their carpet and have used a variety of methods. You should be able to remove all of the wax, but it will take a while (depending on the size of the spot it could take several hours).

Good luck!

I've heard that if you take a towel and run an iron across it (obviously while its on) it should come up.

Blow dry it and then try to wipe it out.

Hope this helps!

Maybe you've tried this old trick.....turn on your iron, take a brown paper bag lay it over the wax and iron it out. I have tried this and it does take some of the wax up, not all of it but it was the best thing I came across. You may even try using a papertowel or two instead of the brown paper bag. Good luck!!

Hi L.,

A similar thing happened to me a few years ago in the school where I worked. Put either paper towels or a single layer of brown paper (from a paper bag) down to cover the area with the wax. Using a hot iron, iron the entire area over the bag/paper towels. The wax should come off on the paper! It really works!

Best of luck,
R.

Sally's technique will work. Although, I used paper towels and an iron, but the result should be the same. It will come out, just do a little at a time.
