Games for a Party

So i am starting to plan my son's 4th birthday party. It is going to be the end of march. I am debating between taking him to chuck E cheese or having it at our house. The reason I am thinking I don't want to have it at chuck e cheese is the last couple years people have told us they were going to be there and then never showed up. So if we have his party at our house I am looking for games that 4 year olds or kids around that age can play with out too mcuh assistance. Any ideas or even websites will be really helpful!!! Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

I have never had a party outside the house that went as well or was as much fun as the one at home. With littler kids-and actually the bigger ones, the messier stuff and wetter games are the best. I fill pails with ater and give squirt guns and water balloons. We have shaved balloons, had shaving cream fights. Take a card table outside, cover it with shave cream ans color it with food color and let them finger apint. If they're likely to eat the stuff use whip cream and koolaid powder to color it. Pintas are always a blast. I also like to find easy crafts so they have something to take home besides goody bags full of cheap useless junk. Oriental Trading Company has them in sets of 12 and they are really inexpensive. Blow up balloons and have a relay race where they have to sit on and pop it. Tie them to ankles and they pop eachothers-the last one with a balloon wins. Set up a race overunder and around things. wear them out and send them home. Have fun!!!!

pin the tail on the donkey, simon says, red light/green light, a pinata, and musical chairs are really fun, easy games for little ones. also you can go to like a party store and they have different games that are usign listed with age appropriate labels.

I teach four-and five-year-olds, and have done a fair share of indoor play. Musical chairs is always good, but one bit of advice: offer a "prize" for the kid who gets out, so there are no tears. Even just a lolipop to eat while the other kids finish can be great. Also, duck duck goose is a favorite and can keep most kids entertained for a long while. The BEST activity is freeze dancing. Put on some upbeat music and let them dance. When you pause it, they freeze.

A couple more ideas is a big container full of sugar that they dig gummi worms out of, as well as a make your own sundae bar or cupcake decoration bar.

My son and daughter in law had a party for my granddaughter at one of the pizza places and had a bad experience. The help was not courteous and the whole time was bad.
But on the the other hand my great granddaughter has had numerous parties at another pizza place and it has turned out great.
Have you considered having a party at Mr. Gatties.

A.,

Go to www.ask.com and type in: birthday party games for kids
You will have a ton of choices.
Pick a theme.
Visit http://www.dltk-kids.com/ to print out cute kids free bingo cards (and use M&M's as markers)
Basically, 4-year-olds do not needs lots of games. The basic pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey (use individual blindfolds to avoid potential of head lice transfer), bingo, a sponge toss or a clothes pin drop into a bottle, and they're ready for cake or free play.

Best wishes,
K.

A., if you can swing it for the last 2 years we have had a pary with Outback Ray. Google him!!!! It is an amazing very fun and exciting way to host a themed birthday party for kids. He brings and does a wonderful animal show right in you home. The kids learn a lot and get to pet every animal if they choose. It's Just $150 and worth every penny. This year the games we are playing to go along with the theme are the "loudest roar" contest and the "fastest kangaroo hop". Ray is the father of two and great with the kids. He does preformances every Tuesday at Amazone(like Chucky's if you have never been) at 11:00 am if you want to go see him ahead of time. Our pary is on the 2nd of February and even the adults cannot wait! Check out his web site, I think it's just outbackray.com you won't reget it!
Good Luck with the pary, T.

My husband and I operate an ice cream store that does birthday parties. We often play games like Musical Chairs or Simon Says. It is also good to do a craft project with them. You can keep 4 year-olds busy for a pretty long time gluing noodles onto a cardboard picture frame!

Family Fun Magazine might be helpful. Please let me know what other ideas you find. My son will be 4 in April and we usually have his parties at our house as well.
