Hey ladies,
I've signed up to do a walk to raise funds for a disease. I need suggestions on good fundraising ideas, businesses that are pretty open to donating, and any other helpful advice you have!IWe have some ideas but I would love to have more! I do not like asking for money so it's hard for me to do this but since I have to raise the money I'm willing to stretch my comfort zone a bit.
I'm intentionally being vauge about the walk and disease because I don't want this post seen as a ploy to get donations.
So how would you raise money?

What can I do next?

I just got a note from a friend saying they were doing the avon walk for breast cancer. and that if I would like to donate her boss was matching all funds raised. sometimes companies are willing to match funds raised. it is a tax write off for them. another friend sent out emails saying basically same as the letter except the donations could be made online directly to the avon ting.
good luck

my son went to northern Illinois university and they have "bowling for boobs" each year. he called me laughing and said guess what I am doing. he thought it was a cool clever way to raise money. he was right they raise a lot each year. I'm ok with out of the box stuff. I am a breast cancer survivor so any way it can be raised is a good thing.

Maybe promise to dress a certain way during the fund raiser, so a company will sponsor you.

Or to wear a Mascot costume for a school, business.. They will match your funds.

We held a fundraiser for our daughter many years ago. I feel the same way as you do when it comes to asking for money. I decided to have a garage sale and I printed up flyers asking neighbors, friends, etc. to donate unwanted items that I would sell to raise money at the garage sale. I was overwhelmed with the amount of people that donated their unwanted items and the garage sale was a huge success. You can advertise about it on line on facebook, yahoo, craigslist, etc. and let people know to come to your sale. We had a table set up at the garage sale for a bake sale and many people baked for us. We also held a raffle at the garage sale. Some of the local businesses that I frequented and knew me well, even allowed me to display my flyer. Hope this helps.
