Fun Place for 8 Year Old's Birthday Dinner

Every year, on my daughter's birthday, we go out to dinner someplace she would find fun but also someplace where the adults could have a decent meal since it's usually mostly adults attending anyway (aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc.). This is separate from her birthday party with her friends. We've done Rainforest Cafe a few times, Magic Time Machine, Benihana's, and Medieval Times. Do you know of any other places in the metroplex that would fit the bill for someplace fun for an 8 year old but not just boring old pizza for the adults?

I threw out the idea of one of the movie houses that serve dinner too. My daughter loved that idea but my husband did not, so now I need to come up with some alternatives so that my daughter will change her mind. My husband is NOT a big fan of going to the movies, especially NOT on a Friday night which is when my daughter's birthday dinner will be. Sometimes I just need to keep my ideas to myself! LOL

Thanks in advance for any ideas you can offer. :-)

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for the advice. We ended up going to Incredible Pizza in Euless. They have a pizza buffet and lots of indoor games. If you've got a fairly large party, it's best to make a reservation. We found this out the hard way. Also, they have group rates, which we also found out after we paid regular price. It was definitely fun for the kids. There's even a little "toddler land" kind of area for the smaller ones. My 2 1/2 year old had as much fun as my 8 and 20 year old. Thanks again for all the great suggestions!

Joe's Crab Shack in Grapevine has an outdoor play area right next to their covered outdoor seating so the kids can play but the adults can still keep an eye on them.

If you can get your husband to change his mind about the dinner/movie thing, the Metro Cinema and Grill in Colleyville has gourmet food. The service is a bit problematic sometimes though.

Have fun!

My kids love TJ Hartford's. They have a game room with all kinds of video games, air hockey, etc. Their menu is adult friendly.

What about Trail Dust Steak House. They have a 2 story slide in the restuarant and a dance floor. My kids really had a blast the two times we have been for big family get-togethers.

Also, if she is not too picky about food...Edelweiss in W. Fort Worth (off the weatherford traffic circle, hwy 183 and 377). They have live music every night (closed on Sunday and Monday) at 7pm. They always do the "chicken dance" and just have a great time. This is the best German food in town (in my opinion).

Anyway, hope you have a great time.

Sounds to me like you really got all the main ones. I love The Magic Time Machine. What about Hard Rock Cafe or Uno's at Sundance Square?

My sil went to a really fun Hawaiian resturaunt that she loved a couple years ago. She doesn't remember the name though.

Some ethnic places are fun, you sit on the floor, there are performers, or a Mongolian steakhouse where they make the meal in front of you with the knife and flame show... I guess just call around to some that look interesting and see if it is child friendly as well.
