Does anyone know of any food allergy support groups in the Kansas City metro area? Or are there others out there that would be interested in forming a group for parents of kids with food allergies? I live in the Brookside area and am interested in finding other parents who are managing through the world with kids with food allergies. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I'm interested. My youngest is allergic to milk, soy, rice, oats, avoiding wheat because if you're allergic to rice you're almost always allergic to wheat, bananas, pears, prunes, peas, sweet potatoes, etc. Basically the only thing she CAN have is carrots! Hahaha! So yes, I'd love to help in any way I can.

My daughter is allergic to milk and soy. I would love to talk to others who have kids with allergies. I was told she would grow out of this allergy. However, she is 3 years old and can only have organic milk and is limited on dairy products. Let me know if you set one up.

I have not found or heard of any support groups. I too have a son with peanut, peas, navel oranges, and nut allergies. A wide variety like many others! I would love to join in a group as well. Please let us know if you find one or decide to start one! Thanks for asking!!

Hi! I recently met a really nice woman whose son has a peanut allergy, as does mine. She organizes a support group in the KC area and here is the info:
Food Allergy Connection
"If we can't help, we'll find someone who can."
Suuport group for families dealing with food allergies.
Meets the fourth Thursday of every month at the Merriam Bob Evan's.

I sell a product called Wildtree which is an all natural peanut free food line. We have an allergy list that we hand out to all those with allergies to make shopping easier. We also talk about our products at tasting so if you are interested in hearing more about this when you get your group together I would love to come talk to your group. It is a great start for those who don't know where else to go and need products that they can be gaurenteed to have no peanuts or specific allergies. Good Luck on your search I am sure it won't be hard to find those with children with allergies they are all over there are more out there than most people realize.

yes, there are three! There is peanut allergy support in the northland and FAC in OP- chat & chew support groups that meet monthly at Panera (Liberty & Oak Park Mall respectively) where moms get together to share experiences. There is FACST Food Allergy: Connect Support Thrive of KC that meets at Truman Medical Center Lakewood offering meetings, workshops, guest speakers- facstkc.weebly.com

I don't know of any support groups, but I have a one year old who is allergic to dairy and peanuts, so maybe we would join you if you find one/set one up. It's kind of depressing for me, since I know he likely will not grow out of the peanut allergy.

HI! My 16 month daughter has allergies to egg and peanut too. I agree with the other lady, it is sad they will probably not out grow this one. I do not know of a support group though. Let me know if you find one/set up one.
