I am 29 weeks pregnant with my first child, a baby boy! I moved here from Houston under a year ago, and don't have any friends here with young children. I'm looking for Pediatrician referrals in my area. I would prefer that he/she have privilges at the Baylor Medical Centers so that they can perform my son's circumcision. Also, I'm new at this and will have lots of questions and concerns. =) A doctor who is willing to take their time and keep me informed would be a blessing!

What can I do next?

My Pediatrician is in Southlake, but he is really great. My kids love him. His name is Dr. David Johnson and he has priveledges at Baylor. He performed my son's circumcision at Baylor-Grapevine. The number is ###-###-####. Good luck!

Dr. Vanita Shori is great. Her office is located just around the corner from Baylor Grapevine. She is also part of the cooks network which has lots of advantages. I have a three year old and a 8 month old and have always been happy with the care we have received! She has priveledges at Baylor Grapevine and will visit you and your baby immediately at the hospital. Go meet her ahead of time and she will answer any questions you a have too! I also encourage you to read up on circumcision. I was planning to circ too and then had some friends who encouraged me to be really educated before I made my decision and we ultimately decided not to do it. I totally think it is a personal choice and there is no wrong or right but I was glad I made an informed deicision! Good Luck to you!

Dr. Kim Mangham with Cook Children's Pediatrics is wonderful. Not sure if she has privileges at Baylor or not but I'm sure it's easy to find out. She is located in Keller, TX.

We are over in North Fort Worth and my three kids go to Dr. Benzick at Southlake Family Medical, his number is ###-###-####. I am very confident in him and his staff and will never go anywhere else. He is the best! On the opposite side of his practice is the side for adults. My husband see's Dr. Harder M.D. and I see Dr. Walker D.O. Everyone there takes the time to talk with you not at you and Dr. Benzick and his staff talk to the kids and treat them like real people. My kids love them all and always look forward to going.

Hi N. -
I don't know about pediatricians in your specific area, though my sister lives there and has little ones (I will have to ask her). But I wanted to tell you that your OB/GYN could do the circumcision. Our OB did both of ours - and is more accustomed to doing that procedure and other surgical-type things than most pediatricians. The OB does it while you are still at the hospital (day or two after giving birth).
Blessings, S.

I moved up here with three children about 10 years ago. My sister highly recommended Dr. James Wheeler in Hurst ###-###-####). I still continue to use him for my younger two (16 and 14). He is associated with Cooks. My kids never feared going to see him, and my daughter hates that she is now having to see a different doctor (she's 18 now). His staff is friendly and always very helpful.

I recommend North Country Family Practice. They are in Grapevine next door to the Hospital and have privilages. We (all five of us) have been patients of theirs for 12 years. Both Dr Drake(our Dr) and Dr. Dotti are wonderful. They also did my son's circumsision and all went well. They will be moving to Southlake (114 and Carroll) within the year. It takes us about 15-20 minutes to get to their office now and once they move it will be less. If you are delivering at Baylor Grapevine-I have had nothing but awesome care. I had 3 via c-section and the nurses and staff are great. My favorite epidural Dr- Dr. Needleman-yes that is his name and he's great. Good luck-I'm in NRH let me know if you need anything

OH!!! I hope you haven't already decided! I am a NICU nurse and it took me forever to find a pedi I liked! I was so picky! The one I finally decided on is Dr. Mark Jones...he is located in down town fort worth, near Harris Methodist. He does have rights at Baylor. And...he is excellent with circumcisions...uses pain meds and lets them start working befor he performs the procedure. Let me know if you need his number or if you have questions. LOVE HIM AND HIS STAFF!!!
Good Luck to you! Welcome to the DFW area!;)

I highly recommend Dr. Pierre Roberts. He and Dr. Anthony Scot and part of Cooks Childrens Network and are located inside Baylor Grapevine. He is wonderful at taking his time and answering any questions you might have. I did have my two boys circ, but not with him b/c my ob/gyn was out of Las Colinas Medical and I had a friend who is a pedtrician in that hospital perform them. Dr. Roberts performed the tongue clippings on two of mine. I have not found one issue with any of my children that Dr. Roberts has not personally encountered with his own 4 children (3 girls and a boy). Their phone number is ###-###-#### - Grapevine Pediatrics.

Dr. Scott in Grapevine was my first pediatrician. He was recommended to us. However, I do not like him. My child tested positive to food allergies and he refused to refer us to an allergist. Dr. Scott said that no self respecting allergist would give shots to a 2 year old. I never asked for shots. I just want to manage my child allergies (asthma, eczema and now food allergies)
I changed pediatricians KidCare pediatrics in Keller (Rufe Snow and 1709). They did not have any problem referring me to an allergist. Dr. Gomez, and Dr. Fricker are really good (I like dr. Fricker better).
They were a lot better at managing my child's asthma. And the allergist did make a difference.
