Hi everyone,
You were all so helpful in recommending a great OBGYN in the area, that I thought I would see if you could also recommend a pediatrician's office. We just moved to Southlake from San Francisco, California and my son is 2 years old (and we have a baby on the way.) I would love to get your thoughts on local pediatricians. If you have one you love, please send their name my way!
Thanks in advance!!
A.

We use Dr. Vanita Shori at Cook's Childrens in Southlake (very close to Baylor Grapevine). She and Dr Hopkins are great!

All the pediatricians in Southlake Family Med are great. I have had great experiences with Dr. Benzick, Dr. Hunt and Dr. Zwernemann. The only one I cannot recommend is Dr. Johnson. I think he is not very personable and can be quite rude.

We have used Kid Care since 2002 when Dr. Gomez was all by himself and we LOVE them! Yes it is busier now, but we have always received great care. My daughter had medical problems her first 2 years of life and we saw the office weekly. They always went above and beyond and called to check on her, etc. We just went through another illness and were at the office almost every day for a week. The entire staff was so wonderful trying to make her feel better. I have also never noticed anything unusual with the billing. My favorite thing is that I have been able to get a same day appointment every single time I have called - which is often (sometimes) with 4 kids over the past 7 years. Good luck!

We love Dr. Zwernemann at Southlake Family Medicine. They have always been able to fit us in when needed. She is so caring and willing to work with you until problems are resolved. She is not one of those doctors that rushes in, stay with you for 3 minutes and rushes out. She will sit with you and really listens. Their phone number is ###-###-####. I know they take BCBS and Aetna but do not know what other insurance they take.

I have to second and third some of the suggestions here. Dr. Roger Knapp and Dr. Nichols who share office space are PHENOMENAL!

I highly recommend them for SEVERAL reasons. First off -- you can e-mail questions to him and get them answered if you have one.

Secondly, he doesn't believe in pumping kids with drugs at the first sign of a sniffle. He's always thorough and takes time to make sure you get all your questions answered.

Also, he loves kids -- he's so fun, and friendly... makes them feel at home and secure. I can think of at least 20 of my friends that use him as well. At one point, my entire cul de sac all saw Dr. Knapp -- though most have moved to other states since then. :)

We use Dr. Pierre Robert in Grapevine. His office is attached to Baylor Hospital. We love him. His # is ###-###-####. He takes the time to listen to you. He's never made me feel stupid with all of my questions since I was a first time mom. He's great.

Hi A.,

Welcome to Texas! We actually moved out here from Southern CA about a year and a half ago. DEFINITE CULTURE SHOCK! We have a great pediatrician in Keller, Dr. Catherine Hampton who is also with Cooks Children. ###-###-####. She's wonderful and doesn't make you feel stupid for asking questions or feeling concerned about the littlest things. The only thing is that she is SOOOO popular that she only accepts newborns as new patients. Once your newborn is a patient then she accepts any siblings. If you don't find someone you love before your baby is born then I'd really recommend her. We were able to get our baby a newborn visit with her with no problem and now she sees our 3 yr old too. Good Luck!

I use Dr. Scott (Dr. Robert is his partner). We've always have gotten in when needed and the wait is resonable.

FYI - they only take newborns and their siblings as new patients. Call for a prenatal meeting!

Welcome to Texas. Must be quite a change from SF. When we moved here I went through several ped's before i found Southlake Family Medicine. My son sees Dr. Erica Zwernerman but their entire staff of pediatricians are wonderful. Check them out at their website (they are a block from the Southlake Town Square) Good luck!

Hi A..
I have a 9 month old and I take her to Dr. Trung Tran with Clinical Pediatrics in Grapevine. Dr. Tran speaks to you in terms that you can understand. He does not try to flaunt his education. He's pretty laid back, has a good sense of humor, and is really good with my daughter. I have also had appointments with the Nurse Practitioner and I really like her as well, and the staff are very pleasant. I have been to the office many times and have never had to wait more than 3 minutes in the waiting area (big plus when you have an infant).

We absolutely love, love, love our pediatrician, Dr. Benzick at Southlake Family medicine. However, the only new patients I think he's accepting are newborns. Dr. Erica Zwernemann is also at Southlake Family medicine, and we have seen her before when Dr. Benzick was unavailable. She was great, too. I'm not sure whether she is accepting new patients as she's not are main pediatrician. Dr. Hunt recently joined their pediatric staff within the past year, and we have seen her as well, and I really liked her. I know that she's accepting new patients. The staff is caring and wonderful. Dr. Benzick is thorough, friendly, great with the kids, and you can tell he loves kids and his job. Nurse Judy just rocks there, too. All the pediatricians on staff are great there with the exception of Dr. Johnson. He seems to be a very competent pediatrician, but with my personal experiences with him, he seems to be a little "rough around the edges" and doesn't always seem to listen... just my personal experience. Other than that, we LOVE it at Southlake Family Medicine. Good luck with your search. I know it's an important one.

We use Vanita Shori at Cook's Childrens in Grapevine, and have been very happy with her. She is supportive of breastfeeding, and is supportive of me continuing to nurse my 18 month old , and discussed with me my concerns with some vaccinations, agreeing that a delayed and selective schedule was good for us. She's very caring and is great with my daughter!

I love Dr. David Nichols at Cook's in Southlake. The office staff have it all together, they run fairly on time, it's convenient, my son loves the Dr and I have had zero complaints about them. I've only had to see his associate once but I liked him too.

Stay away from Kid Care Pediatrics. I had several horrible experiences with them as well as my sister and my best friend. I had to switch.
