Seeking Obgyn and Pediatrician

I am new to the DFW area. I need to find an obgyn and pediatrician. I'd prefer them to be close to Keller, but am willing to drive for the best. I do not plan to have more kids and my kids are 5 and 3... so, do you think a general practitioner/ family physician would be okay for all the necessary future checkups?

I use Dr. Beverly Wood in Bedford, and will not go to anyone else!! I too have had two sons (11 years apart), and she was very great three years when the second one was born. She is personable, willing to answer all questions, doesn't rush, and explains everything. Her office staff is just wonderful! Please give her a try.

I have a friend that is a Physician's Assistant for Dr. Luna (female ob/gyn). She thinks Dr. Luna is an excellent doctor...I 'personally' have never met Dr. Luna though.

Hello-
I use Dr. White in Keller. He also offices out of Grapevine and delivers at Baylor. I love, love, love him! I gave birth in October and had some complications at the end with blood pressure. He was very on top of everything and I could not had been more pleased! At the time, my grandmother was very ill and he let me sit and cry in his office on numerous occasions and I never felt rushed!
I used Kid Care in Keller but now I use Dr. Mccoy in Grapevine. Worth the drive! Although every dr. I saw at Kid Care was super nice, I always saw someone different when I went. Dr. McCoy has his own office and you will always see him. He has a great nursing staff, too!

I live in Saginaw, work in Grand prarie and my OB and childs dr are in Arlington. My OB is Dr. Kevin Gordon of the Omega and Associates group, they have 3 offices, 2 in Arlington (1 is off I30, the other in central Arlington Behind Medical Center of Arlington), the other office is in Mansfield off 287. I love this group of Drs and have told my husband that if we were to move, change insurances or whatever, we would pay the fees for me to see him once a year. Dr. Gordon does the "consult" during the visit and you don't realize it, he is a younger Dr. mid 30s I think, with a beautiful wife (who is an oncologist) and a cute daughter. He is very down to earth and gets to know his patients. As for the kids Dr. I use Arlington Family Practice. They are general practicioners (sp), and I love them. I use Dr. Sharon Dennis for my little ones. What I like most about her is that if there is a home remedy, she will tell you rather than write a prescription to make you feel better. I know this is a little out of the way, but for me it is worth the extra driving. I hope this helps.

My pediatrician is a nice guy, smart and easy-going. He is the only doctor my 4th child has ever gone to, and when I asked to delay this child's baby shots, this doctor was willing to go along with my wishes without giving me too much grief. Their waiting room can get a little crowded - - but if my child ever woke up sick, I've usually been able to get an appointment on that day.

Dr. Omar Gomez at www.KidCarePediatrics.com, just behind the McDonalds on 1709 @ Rufe Snow.

If you are looking to get back into teaching, check out Westlake Academy, 2600 Ottinger. (Take Keller-Smithfield north, turn Right onto Ottinger across from the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, go on Ottinger until you leave Keller city limits and enter Westlake, and keep heading north, school will be on the left. It's a public charter school, using the wonderful I.B.O. Curriculum (International Baccalaureate Org.), with class size limited to 16-18. www.westlakeacademy.org

Here's another vote for ob/gyn Dr. Allen on Basswood and Basswood Family Practice. Dr. Allen also has a nurse practioner that I like to see. She's very thourough and great if you just need the annual exam thing. I really like our pediatrician, Dr. John Dalton at Cook Children's on Martin Rd. in Hurst(Precinct Line and Mid-Cities Blvd., next to the Urgent Care Center). He also has a nurse practioner and several other great doctors at the clinic there. Several of my neighbors use the other doctors there and really like them. Dr. Dalton is an older guy (I think the orginial building there was dedicated to him), but there are some younger ones and a female ped. there also.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE our pedi...it's a great practice and he's a great doc(actually all of them there are great). We drive 20 minutes to get to him because he's the best as far as we are concerned. Dr. David Goff in Denton. I'd drive from anywhere to get to him. I also love my OB...Dr. Marc Wilson in Denton. I drive about 1/2 hour to get to him...he's wonderful and my hubby loves him too.

I live in south Arlington so I don't think you want to drive an hour to see my doctors. (If I'm wrong let me know and I'll be happy to give you their names. I just moved here recently too so I feel for you on the doctor search.) My advice on the General Practitioner vs. OB/GYN question is yes it would be fine to only see a GP. If something were to come up, heaven forbid, I'm sure they would refer you to a specialist. Good luck on the search and welcome to DFW!

General Practitioner & Family Physician is ok if you aren't having any more kids. Dr. Erica Swegler - she is off Southlake Blvd in Keller, TX. She is the best!! She mainly sees my 13 year old right now - as I just had a baby and am still seeing my OBGYN for checkups.

Whatever you do - stay away from Women's Integrated Healthcare in Grapevine! THE WORST!!

We go to Kid Care Pediatrics. They are wonderful! We have seen 3 different doctors and all of them are caring and kind. Dr. Fricker is our doctor. As for an OBGYN, I go to Dr. Cope. She is in Grapevine. There is usually a long wait, but she is well worth it! I am 16 weeks into my high risk pregnancy.

Hi S.,

If you prefer a women's center, I hire recommend North Texas Women's Healthcare right on Keller Parkway across from El Paseo. He also ahs a pracitce in Grapevine Baylor. Dr. Gagnon is wonderful and so are the others in the practice. Although, you don't plan on having more children there are so many other reasons to go to an OBGYN then famiy practice. Dr. Gagnon is highly respected among Baylor Grapevine Nurses. They said he is one of if not the best. I have been told to alwasy listen to nurses! He has a wealth of knowledge and wonderful bedside manner. His number here in Grapevine is 81-###-###-####. I love his nurses too..especially Kay.

A great family practice is Southlake Family Medicine where he rest of my family go. ###-###-####

I live in Keller and moved here 2 years ago. It took me a little while to find really great doctors, but I have.

Good Luck!

I have a wonderful pediatrician in Grapevine - Dr. Pierre Roberts, III. He is located at Baylor Grapevine and is connected with Cooks Childrens Network. His partner is Dr. Anthony Scot - they are very different in "bedside" manner. Both are great. Dr. Roberts has four children himself and I have not encountered one issue with my five that he has not personally encountered with his own. He believes in empowering the parents with information and really helping. ALSO, his wife is an ob/gyn in Grapevine, too - Dr. Rebecca Roberts. I do not go to her, but I know several who do and love her. My ob/gyn, Dr. Shelley Ramos, is in Irving, but went to med school with Rebecca. Shelley recommended Dr. Roberts to me as peditrician b/c of Rebecca. Hope that helps!

Hi S., I can not help you with an Ob/Gyn but, I can tell you of a great family practicioner (hope I spelled that right, It's to early to think.) His name is Russell Daily, he is located on Keller Pkwy. Next to the Taco Casa on the corner of Keller Pkwy and Pate Orr. He is very concerned for his patients and does not believe that money issues should be a reason for no health care. He is nice but he will tell it like it is, which I appreciate. Hope this will help.
