Hi Mamas, maybe someone out there can help with a situation involving my best friend. She recently found out she has uterine fibroids in her uterus. Has anyone had trouble conceiving or keeping the baby full term. She has more testing to be done and has received a second opinion. Any advice or info would be great.

What can I do next?

HI M.,

My husband and I were having trouble conceiving; we tried for over a year on our own, without any success. We decided to discuss it with my ob/gyn and she recommended an infertility specialist at UMASS in Worcester- We went through a number of treatments- least to most invasive and ultimately decided to go through In-Vitro at Reproductive Science Center in Lexington. It was a difficult and at times painful journey, however we were successful after one cycle of IVF- and are now proud parents of an almost 11 month old baby boy!! We were never given a diagnosis as to the cause of not being able to conceive. Best wishes to your friend, and my advice is for her to keep looking for answers!

I have a fibroid on the front outside wall of my uterus which I did not even know was there until I got pregnant even though it is considered "large" (not sure of the measurement). I had a beautiful baby girl by vaginal delivery this March - no problems. I suggest talking to a midwife as well as a doc. I first went to a doc and he told me a variety of very scary possibilities regarding pregnancy/birth with the fibroid - none of which turned out to be true. All the best.

i had a fibroid - but it was a couple years before i got pregnant. i had a myoectomy and they found endometriosis as well as a cyst on my ovary. i had no problems getting pregnant but they were surprised i think. is your friend already pregnant? feel free to ask me any questions about my procedure - i had been in SO much pain that i was so grateful to finally find out what it was and be able to fix it.

Hi, I had a polyp pushing my uterine wall in during a HSG test it was found. So I had a laparoscopy and the doctor removed it and 3 fibroid tumors and alot of the endometriosis. He told me that everything found was causing my 3 year infertility. I am now 40 and hoping I get pregnant quickly. He has suggested because of my age to go directly to Boston IVF.
