I am sure this is a no brainer for you all...
I am abroad. My 4 year old son is fighting a high fever 102-104. I saw a doctor. He also developed a facial red rash around his mouth and cheeks, as well as some spots on his chest and tummy. He has had all of his immunizations.
Is this normal to get a rash for no reason? or could the rash be unrelated?
They did take a throat culture for strep .... and a blood test for measles ....
any thoughts? I dont have many people to ask so your input is helpful....

As to DAwn's question -- we are still battling pin worms so when he got the hi fever and rash...i was more concerned than usual :)...apparently hae had a great deal of worms as five days later -- even with meds -- they were still coming out in his poop (sorry for the info...).....
we are going for a second opinion to the best doc here...because of the worms and the fever and rash... everything together....your quick responses help me know that things are within a reasonable range.

There are dozens of Non-Specific Viral Rashes that children get. They are normally not serious. Keep him comfortable, let the fever do it's job. Did he have the rash when he saw the doctor, or did that develop later? Quite often the rash develops at the end of the illness. Take him back to the doctor if it gets worse.
Each country has it's own diseases and issues. I think he may have picked up something that we don't immunize for/against. I think taking him to the doc was a great idea. I would stick with that and make sure to follow the docs advice.
He could have come across something that he's allergic to.
He could have come into contact with something that he was vaccinated against, and the vaccination is actually doing its job and minimizing the reaction.
Are you able to e-mail your pediatrician?
There are no immunizations for viruses. What happened with the testing regarding the worms? (That was your son, right?) I would be worried that this is possibly a symptom of that, unless they were able to ascertain that these were indeed just pin worms...
Keep him hydrated, and don't hesitate to take him to the hospital if it gets worse.

Vaccines are not 100% effective so he could still catch something that he was vaccinated against. Most vaccines are about 70% to 80% effective.
Is it possible its related to the medicine? My daughter sometimes gets a rash after she's been on Amoxicilin for a few days.
It's good that you are taking him to the dr. It could be a virus, it could maybe be from the worms (although I do not know anything about worms so it might not be either). Also vaccines are not 100%. You can still get a disease even though you are up to date. Also maybe it's an allergic reaction to something? I hope he feels better soon and you and the dr's are able to figure everything out.

It is not uncommon for children to get what I call the "rash virus". My daughters have both had it several times. It's a high fever, accompanied by a splotchy red rash. My daughters usually get it on their face, tummies, and upper thighs. It will go away in a few days, and no meds will help, it's viral.
