I need opinions on featherbeds. I was at a Marriott hotel and loved their featherbed and their website said it is filled with duck down and feathers. What is the difference between duck and goose feathers. I can't find what the difference is between the two. Help because I really need this new featherbed. My back didn't hurt the whole time I was staying at the hotel. I currently have a memory form and am hating it right now. Also, let me know where you purchased your featherbed.

So What Happened?

After doing more research, I bought a featherbed from QVC upon the recommendation from my sister-in-law. It is to arrive the 31st. Hopefully I will finally get a good night sleep without back pain.

Feathers are feathers. Duck feathers are smaller than goose feathers but are really the same but goose down is better than duck down. Goose down is fluffier and higher quality. Feathers can jab through the fabric and poke you where down is the soft part (breast) of a goose or duck. Most beds just have a down topper. I do not currently have a feather bed but grew up where we raised ducks and geese and still have the goose down pillows.
We have a Select Comfort - Sleep Number Bed and love it. Took away my back problems. My husband says he sleeps better now than he ever slept on a inter spring mattress. Good Luck on your search.

I don't know what the difference is but make sure you get a good quality one. I washed mine and now I have little feathers all over, I mean all over. Plus the big feathers are always coming through and poking us. Kind of defeates the purpose of comfort. L.

I have a feather bed that is feathers with a down topper. No pokiness and very soft. Watch for half-off sales at department stores. I think mine came from Carson's.

HI i stayed at the Grand Geneva hotel and fell in love with their feather bed i purchased on at Kohls and it is not as nice i think you want a higher percentage of goose down then feathers the feathers are the pokey ones but i think you need some feathers so it can be thicker whats nice as long as your not allergic to feathers is it breathes whaer the foam makes you hotter and sweat . My mom once purchased me a down blanket at the Country store i think it was called very good quality also check out Overstock.com but beware their return policy is a pain but they have some great deals good luck hope you find a good deal.

Hi L.!
I don't know the difference between the two feathers, but I would ask someone who works in a matress store.....I do have a question for you though, that I hope you don't mind answering. Why do you hate your memory foam? i was thinking of getting one, and I'm curious. I have heard good things about the sleep number.

Isn't it funny how we like matresses at hotels? I love the ones at Hampton Inns!!
