Favorite Recipe Websites?

I am so tired of planning meals. I like variety in our meals, so probably fix recipes once a month, sometimes twice. We have some favorites, but I'd love to have a collection to choose from. Do you have a favorite website or cookbook to recommend? I'm so tired of searching! Time is short, so I prefer quick meals or cook ahead. Also, we don't eat fish. Thanks for your suggestions!

For those of you who are looking for quick and easy mealtime options--try POWER COOKING! What that means is cooking up the main part of the meal (i.e.), dividing it into bags and having it ready to basically defrost and serve! Here's my favorite:

Prepare the Make Ahead Ground Beef ingredients and pick THREE of the recipes to prepare!

Make Ahead Ground Beef
3 medium onions
3 lbs. 90% lean ground beef
3 Garlic Cloves

Chop onion and press garlic cloves into 12" Skillet. Cook over medium heat 15-18 minutes until no longer pink, breaking apart with Mix and Chop.

Divide meat into 3 portions to use with the following recipes! You can mix the ingredients for the recipes below with your ground beef and freeze for a quick and easy meal--just heat and serve!

BARBECUE BEEF SLOPPY JOES
1 c. catsup
2 tbsp. Smoky Barbecue Rub
2 tsp. cider vinegar

TO SERVE:
12 small buns to serve on
8 oz. block cheddar cheese
1 small jar Dill pickle Slices

Combine 1 portion of make ahead ground beef with catsup, seasoning and vinegar and simmer for 10 minutes.

Top with shredded cheddar cheese and pickles and any other toppings of your choice!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
ITALIAN BEEF HOAGIES

1 red bell pepper
1/4 c. water
2 tbsp. red wine vinegar
1 packet onion soup mix
1 tbsp. Italian Seasoning Mix

TO SERVE
8 oz. block Provolone or Monterey Jack Cheese
12 small hoagie buns

Combine ingredients and freeze. Defrost and grate cheese over meat while simmering; serve over warm hoagie buns.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
ZESTY BEEF TACOS
1 c. chunky salsa
6 oz. can tomato paste
3/4 c. water
1 packet taco seasoning mix

TO SERVE
8 oz. block cheddar cheese
1 large tomato
1 small can whole black olives
8 oz. container sour cream
1 small bunch green onions
1 small head lettuce
12 taco shells

Add ingredients to plastic bag and freeze. To serve, defrost and simmer 10 minutes. Spoon into taco shells and top with desired toppings.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
SAUCY BEEF CHILI
16 oz. chili beans in sauce, undrained
14.5 oz. can petite diced tomatoes, undrained
1 1/2 c. water
6 oz. can tomato paste
1 packet chili seasoning mix

TO SERVE:
8 oz. block cheddar cheese
8 oz. container sour cream
1 small bunch green onions with tops

Add ingredients to plastic bag and freeze. To serve, defrost and simmer 10 minutes. Spoon into bowls and top with desired toppings.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
EASY BEEF STROGANOFF
8 oz. can sliced mushrooms
10.25 oz. can cream of mushroom soup
1/4 c. water
1 tsp. ground paprika
salt and pepper to taste

TO SERVE:
8 oz. container sour cream
1 lb. egg noodles
1 small bunch parsley

Hope you all enjoy these!

recipematcher.com or recipematch.com

It has a spot on the site where you can put in what you have in your house already (i.e. spices, sides, meats) and it will pull something together from that or it will create a shopping list for you.

There is a WONDERFUL website, it is called cooks.com. I use it at least 4 times a week. Even if you know the name of something but not sure how to prepare it, you can type in the name and it will find several different recipes for it, for example wedding punch, type it in, and it will bring up everything fitting that description, also, if you just need a receipe for fish or chicken it has that too. Good luck, hope this helps.

Sincerely,
M. P.

Hi J.!

I went to Park too! I loved that school (and i've been to quite a few around the area!!)! If i ever go back to school, i will be going there again. they have great teachers!

I like www.30daygourmet.com. basically it has meals that you fix ahead and freeze. i've tried several recipes and they've all been pretty good. if you pay, you get access to more recipes, but there are several on the website for free. you can also sign up for their newsletter that always has new recipes in it. they also have a few books out there too that i've checked out from the library.

also, i love my Betty Crocker's New Cookbook. everything i've tried in it is good. it's the best cookbook!

hope that helps!!

The best is allrecipes.com. You can find recipes for your entire meal. It will even suggest side dishes to go with your chosen entree and give nutritional information for most. You can save your favorite recipes or upload your own.

I really like tasteofhome.com! I get Taste of Home magazine and Simple and Delicious magazine (from the same publishers). I always look forward to getting them every month. EVERY SINGLE thing I have made from each magazine has turned out great!! Simple and Delicious even gives you a week of planned out meals and the grocery list already made so all you have to do is cut it out. Plus they have a ton of recipes that can be fixed in 30 min or less (for us busy moms) and recipes with few ingredients. There are recipe cards to cut out in each magazine too so you can create your own favorites cookbook. Happy cooking!

Here's one of my favorite easy recipes:

1 container of Lloyd's barbecue beef, chicken, or pork (doesn't matter what)
1 can garbanzo beans (chickpeas)
1 can kidney beans
1 can pinto beans
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Fritos or some sort of corn chip
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

(You can use different beans, these are just the ones I use.) Rinse and drain all beans. Mix Lloyd's and all beans together in 2-quart baking dish until well mixed. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top. Heat at 400 degrees for 20-30 minutes, until cheese is melted and is hot and bubbly. Serve with chips!

Even if your family doesn't like beans, I recommend trying this, because they won't even be able to taste them. Great protein dinner!!! Enjoy!
