I'm wondering if you moms can tell me some good over the counter scrubs. My face is looking aweful and I need to exfoliate. I usually use 7 day scrub from Clinique but its not strong enough this go around. I'm looking into microdermabrasion but I"m gonna wait till after the summer to do this. I know it can make your face sensitive for a bit and between summer and football season I"m gonna be in the sun alot. Yes I use sunscreen. I just need something to help my skin look better in the mean time. It needs a good scrub. I have combination skin and I still get breakouts around that time of month. I need help with very small acne scars and small fine lines that are starting to show.

What can I do next?

I lovvvve Origins Never a Dull Moment scrub. I often get compliments and people ask me what I use. When I tell them, most of them end up buying it. A tube will cost you about $25 but it lasts me a looong time since you only have to use a pea size amount 2 or 3 times a week. It has papaya which has enzymes that dissolve the dead skin cells. The smell...you'll either love it or hate it. It's a fruity smell. Hope this helps...

I love Mary Kay's Microdermabrasion. You do it yourself at home and although it's not cheap, it isn't overly expensive and it lasts a while. I can always tell the difference when I get lazy and don't use it for a while. I don't sell it but I've used their products for years and my skin is SO MUCH better for it.

Mary Kay Cosmetics has a wonderful microdermabrasion set that you only have to use 2 or 3 times a week and you do it in the luxury of your own bathroom. Do the micro at night so you are not out in the sun. I also have a milder cleansing scrub that you can use every day. I also have an acne treatment cream that dries up the breakouts in days. I'm not to far from you for personal service.
PM if you are interested, I can hook you up with a great non pushy consultant ......me. ;~)

Melaleuca has a really great skin care line. I was at one point considering microdermabrasion, (I have some acne scars, and some fine lines and some frown lines and I too would get hormonal breakouts each month) but since I have been using it, I have noticed a huge difference in my skin, the lines are no longer as noticable, as are the acne scars. I don't even have that embarassing breakout anymore. It is all pretty cheap too, I spend $16 for cleanser, toner, oil control cream, and acne spot treatment, that lasts about 3 months, and for the lines and acne scars I use an anti-age serum that costs about $22 and lasts a little over a month. The only thing is you can't buy it in a store. PM me if you are interested, I am a marketing exec for Melaleuca but even if I wasn't I would still swear by the stuff, I love it and it is the only stuff that I have found over the years that works and doesn't cost a fortune.

You definitely should try C. Booth glycolic acid peel. This stuff is better than microdermabrasion IMO. My skin has never looked better after using this-and I am an avid Retin a user too. I highly suggest everything from this line actually. I have used many derm and high end brands but C booth gives better results. The last time I mentioned this on Mamapedia I got a PM a couple weeks later from someone thanking me for the suggestion-its just that good. You can get it at Rite Aid.

Also-there are other things besides microdermabrasion I would look into. To me this is a huge ripoff. Look at getting a mild peel. I have had much better results from these.

I use ROC nightime treatment and during day I use Aveda Embrighten treatement. They help with dull and discolorations, but really helped keep skin "fresh" looking.
I have also used my mother's Mary Kay timewise scrub and really liked the immediate effects it gave:)
