I work in retail, grocery actually. And someone once ate month old yougurt, and brought the container back to the store and we sent it off to be tested. It came back negative for all not normal yogurt bacteria, and I know gogurt has more preservatives than most, so I honestly think your son might have a touch of a flu going around. Food poisioning sets in about 12 hours after you eat the bad thing, and lasts 24-48 hours of nonstop diareeah and vomitting, so he is probably okay.

Good luck with that...

The expiration dates are more buy by dates not eat by dates. It is still good. Now if it were 6 months over the date, of course not. Most foods that are sealed like gogurts will last a bit longer than their sell by dates, maybe 3 months. But I wouldnt count on anything after.

I agree, I wouldn't seat it unless he gets sick...it probably wasn't bad, or he probably wouldn't of eaten it.

If he doesn't get sick he should be fine. It's just like expired milk. If it tastes okay and he doesn't get food poisoning he'll be fine. You'll know the food poisoning pretty quickly.

I wouldn't worry. The only thing that probably would have already happened is an upset tummy. I can't believe he ate it! HA HA...

Yogurt is ok to eat up to one week after the expiration date. Your child probably did have a case of mild food poisoning. Medical attention is not needed unless you see signs of severe hydration, or nonstop vomiting, or it would be like having the flu to the extreme. But if the child is just a little ill, their system will clean it out. Just keep an eye on it, call your ped's nurseline or the ped if you're still worried.
We keep our gogurts in the freezer, year round. They can stay up to 8 mos in the freezer.
