I have a friend who needs a 2nd opinion about a possible hysterectomy. She has huge uterine fibroids and her gyno wants to do a hysterectomy. She is very reluctant and needs a 2nd opinion. Anyone know of a knowledgeable, experienced, competent gynecologist in the San Gabriel Valley who is an excellent surgeon as well - just in case she opts for the hysterectomy?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

My friend had the hysterectomy with Dr. Kathy Walker at San Gabriel Valley Medical Center. Everything went exceptionally well, and the doctor even removed some of her abdominal fat! She was very happy with Dr. Walker's care and her stay at SGVMC. She is very relieved and glad she had the surgery done.

Dr. Bharat D. Shah! He is a high risk OB/GYN and also a Neonatologist. I went to him for both my pregnancies. I believe he knows and can definitely do all that you mentioned. He's located in Pasadena off of Alessandro st. Let him know Samantha Chang referred. He may have forgotten me, though :).

Yes, please go see Dr. Margaret Juarez ###-###-####, 101 Las Tunas Dr., #601 in Arcadia) or ###-###-#### 1168 N. San Gabriel Blvd., Suite C&D in Rosemead.

She was my Dr. for my two pregnancies, first one being a high risk pregnancy. She's also my Dr. now with my 3rd pregnancy!!! Both pregnancies resulted in a c-section which were preformed by her and went very well, my scar isn't so bad and my babies were and are nice and healthy. She was referred to me by a co-worker and she, along with a different co-worker have had hysterectomies (one due to huge fibroids as well) preformed by her with a positive outcome and a very minimal scar, apparently she now uses a special glue instead of staples or stitches, I'm very excited to have this done with the c-section of my 3rd baby, scarring is almost invisible.

*One thing to keep in mind but, please don't let it discourage you is that Dr. Margaret Juarez is a "Doctor", she's not you friend and she has a lot of patients so she's very much straight to the point and doesn't really "sugar coat it", so have your questions ready before you go in and be ready to hear her HONEST opinion – good or bad! Some people might take this as being rude but, you have to remember she's your Doctor, not your friend.

Good luck in any choice your friend decides on and she's blessed to have a friend like you who cares!
