Well... I lived in Kettering for about 8 years, then went to OSU (Go Bucks). After college I started working with a marketing company and moved to the DC area. I'm back in Kettering now to be around family and about to have my first baby (it's a boy :) ) around August 15th. The friends I had here have mostly moved away, and I don't know any other moms in the area. I am really eager to meet other moms to hang out with, get to know, or just share ideas with.

I am working from home, so I have as much free time as I need. I just have no idea where to go to meet other moms.... any ideas are very, very welcomed!!!

What can I do next?

If you are planning to breastfeed the La Leche League is a great group of mothers. They meet once a month, but many playgroups are formed from those meetings. The website is http://llleus.org/
The East Dayton/Kettering group meets the second Tuesday of the month at 7PM at the Corinth Church in Dayton. If you have questions, you can email me at ____@____.com

Hello A.,

Congrats on Baby! and Welcome home! YES- GO BUCKS!!! I too, moved away and moved back. I have 2 girls- 6 & 2 1/2. The youngest has Down syndrome and I work for our local Ds association and organize our Moms group.(doubt you would want to join us :) It keeps me crazy busy. I also sell Mary Kay (but I am not a crazy MK lady!) It's been a good resource for meeting other women.

There is a 937moms.com it might be an outlet to meet area moms. There's the church route. Do you happen to be Catholic? (I'm not- but all of my friends are) I've heard that St.Lukes moms group is good and I know a few of those ladies.

Wish I could think of more- it's easier when the kids get older to meet moms. Good luck- A.

Hi A.,

Congratulations on your little one on the way! I'm not sure where in Kettering you live, but Kettering has lots of neighborhood pools. Ours has been a life saver. We can show up there any time and there are lots of moms to talk to and my kids always find someone to play with. Mine are 4 yrs old and 18 months but I've been taking them both since they were tiny.

Also, have you signed up for any classes at the hospital you will be delivering at? That might be another good way to meet others who are expecting around the time you are.

For after your baby is born, I think most rec centers around here offer mother and baby classes where you meet with moms and their babies once a week with an instructor - it can be a great way to meet other moms with babies the same age and get tips or just talk. I think some hospitals offer mom support groups too.

Torward the end of my pregnancies I would try to walk every morning or evening around my neighborhood(when its not too hot) and I was amazed how many expecting moms or moms with little ones that I met that way.

Best wishes and congratulations!

Hi..I live in the Dayton area too and one of the things that you might enjoy since you love music, is look into a Kindermusik program. You can bring babies starting at a young age and it would be a way for you to meet new moms and enjoy music while doing it. Just google it and I believe the woman in the area that heads it up is named Kimberly. You can do this program with your child all thru their 'early years' and it goes, I think, until they start Kindergarten. It is a bit expensive, but you get books, Cd's and little instruments and my son always loved it. I have friends that started their children as infants, so I know you can start them young! Have fun ! It all goes by so fast ,enjoy every minute of it!
