HI! I am a new mom, daughter was born on 12/10/12, and I am looking to meet other new moms in Plano or nearby. I have no friends in the area with small children, and I am a stay at home mom. I would love your help! Oh, I am older than most new mom's, almost 40! Thanks so much for any advice!

What can I do next?

MOMS Club is great. It stands for Moms Offering Moms Support. Our e-mail is ____@____.com. I also think there is a moms and babies group at Medical Center of Plano. Good luck, and welcome to motherhood!

I agree about MOPS, Mothers Of PreSchoolers, which covers moms of children birth through Kindergarten. I have been involved in MOPS in 3 different cities as we have moved around and it has been GREAT! My current MOPS group meets at Bent Tree church two Thursdays a month. It's on Park, between International and Marsh on the south side. Our next meeting is April 4. If you are interested in learning more, send me a private message.

Find a MOPS group through http://www.mops.org/. There are lots around. I've been in MOPS for 4 years and I love it.

If you aren't too far from Carrollton, you may want to look into the Carrollton Early Childhood PTA (http://www.cecpta.org/). There are moms from Plano, and farther, who are part of the group. I wasn't involved this year, because I went back to work and didn't have time, but I was really happy to be involved with it for three years while I was SAHM / work at home mom. There are a variety of activities: weekly playgroups arranged by child age, monthly mom's (or dad's -- there are a few involved) night out, monthly activities for kids of all ages where we explore new areas 'all around dallas', and monthly meetings with a presentation of early childhood topics with optional childcare (moms can also keep their children with them, and the youngest ones often do stay with mom). It was a really good way for me to get to know other moms in the area, and don't worry, there are moms of all ages. Good luck!

Does your neighborhood HOA have a website? Ours has a website with contacts for social groups, etc.

How about some neighbors? When my daughter was newborn, (18 yrs ago) there were about 4 of us on the same street and close by all with new babies. We got together a lot and the children are still friends today, even though we all moved in different directions.

I don't know what part of Plano you are in but if you go to church, you might meet people there.

Once the weather breaks and is consistantly nicer, LOTS of people are out and about walking on the trails, in neighborhoods etc and it is much easier to meet neighbors!

Congratulations on your new baby.. My daughter is a 12/27 baby!!
