Everything Is Better With . . . .

Mamas & Papas-

Fill in the blank, and share your favorites. For some it might be everything is better with bacon, for others, it might be everything is better dipped in ranch, for others it might be if served with wine, etc etc. In part I am asking JFF, in part because I find myself in a salsa rut, putting salsa pretty much on everything, and it's time to shake things up a little bit.

Thanks,
F. B.

There are only two food groups:

Things that are better with chocolate, and

Things that are better with cheese.

Enough said.

If you ask my 4 year old, it's ketchup. The girl wanted ketchup on her oatmeal this morning...

For me, right now, it's Pepsi. I LOVE Pepsi, and used to drink at least 4-5 bottles a week... A couple a day if I had access to it. Buuuut, I have been trying to undergo a lifestyle change and have not had any pop for the last 3 months. I finally got out of the physical effects of the caffeine withdrawals, but I really miss my Pepsi.

Oh well, I'm better off without it. I guess I will have to go with chocolate. :)

Cheese - real, flavorful, slap you in the face with its force cheese... More than once I have thanked my stars I am not lactose intolerant regarding cheese. I don't think I can have a meal without cheese. Maybe breakfast but even then I can find a way to add cheese.

Wine - nothing beats wine. You can cook with it; you can drink it; you can do both at once. It makes a bad day better and a good day great. It's for commiserating and celebrating.

In general fresh, real food...butter, fruits, veggies, meats, dairy...all so much better the fresher and closer to the source.

I was going to say sex until I realized you were talking about food.

For pretty much any non-dessert food, I would say garlic, onions, celery (the holy trinity of Cajun cooking), bell pepper, shrooms, cayenne
And beer. GOOD beer, not that nasty yellow stuff.

I was going to say Laughter! HAHA. for food..... What about changing up your salsa? I often find myself adding cilantro/lime to a lot of things. Basically foundations of salsa. Add some fruit to the salsa to change it up. Fresh herbs can make a difference. They are pretty cheap too. You can freeze them to have "fresh" herbs later too. It gives the dish a lot of flavor and freshness. Which might be what you are going for with salsa (assuming it is fresh).

Pasta all the way. I will never get tired of pasta. When I was young I ate KD by the box and now that I understand there is actually an array of flavours I love a bowl of fresh and carefully prepared pasta. Usually in a nice rose sauce but a hearty meaty tomato sauce is really yummy too and forever chocolate.

WIne, chocolate, and cheese all get a hearty concurrence from me!

I am also a sucker for a nice spice blend, something with big chunks of herbs, spices, and fancy sea salt. I go through phases with them, currently I have one that my husband picked up in Kansas City and is a spicy BBQ-rub type blend that goes on my pizza, pasta, salads, veggis, sandwiches, popcorn, corn on the cob...

Fun! I don't know how my kids turned into such party poopers.
As far as food goes...my kids would say Nutella, katsup, and ranch (yuk).I am also a salsa fan. I also love peppercini, feta, and beets (or Greek Salad, lol).
Lettuce! We went camping a few weeks ago and I felt sluggish afterwards. I think it was the lack of salad-I usually eat Salad twice a day.

Salsa is very healthy, so continue eating it!

For me, it is "everything is better with Vyvanse!!!" Life truly is better with Vyvanse, and sometimes I consider getting back on it, but I don't like taking prescription medication if I absolutely don't have to, so I stopped. Plus, it's expensive! But boy is it amazing for weight loss/maintenance, and, it gives you a feeling of euphoria, energy, and makes you more productive. Oh well, I am determined to stay off of it, and I am (it's been over a year now).

And yes, everything is always better with wine (that's a given)!!!

According to my daughter- peanut butter. She puts it on pretzels, apples, tortilla chips, spoons and her fingers.

For me, everything savory is better with sautéed onions, paprika and garlic. All desserts are better with really good vanilla ice cream.
