My almost 4 year old daughter has suffered from ear infections since I can remember. It's been the same routine with each event... antibiotics and pain killers. Just last night out of nowhere she screamed of ear pain. When my pain relief med did nothing, I took her to the ER in the middle of the night. They gave her something to relieve the pain and she woke up feeling just fine. They gave me antibiotics, but I hesitate to pump her little body with them yet again when I read that most ear infections are viral. Should I give it to her anyway??
I would look into taking her to an ENT. My son had so many ear infections, that he became deaf in his right ear. I only learned this after I went with my gut and took him to the ENT myself because his pedatrition kept saying it was not needed. He now has tubes in his ears and full hearing back. However he is very behind in his speech, because he could not hear for so long!
Has she ever had tubes in her ears? They are so much a life saver! :) Truely wonderful!
You should definately see an ENT. My son had ear infections, colds, and other breathing issues for 2 years. We saw an ENT, he needed tubes and to have his adenoids and tonsils removed. Once this was done, he has had 0 infections!!
I agree that you shouldn't keep pumping your child full of medications that aren't working. You need to get to the root of the problem. An ENT can do this, with very little evasiveness.
I am leary of antibiotics, too as last summer I ended up very sick because of having so many antibiotics. I started seeing a Naturapathic doctor and she has completely turned my health around. If you can find one in your area, that would be what I would recommend before giving her the antibiotics. You definately want to make her healthier, but you will probably find that the N.D. will treat the cause of the ear infections, not just the symptoms and have little or no side effects.

Hi, My son went through same thing, it only gave him temp relief. I started taking him to the chiropractor, and rarely does he ever have any problems. The older he has got the less too. But at least no more surgeries and drugs.

You need to see a specialist. It's possible that the fluid in her ears isn't draining correctly. I'm really shocked that no one has referred you to an Ear Nose and Throat specialist yet. Ask your pediatrician if it would be beneficial to see one. Perhaps tubes would help your daughter. I had tubes when I was 3 and I've never had another ear infection since.
olive oil in the ear works wonders! just a drop or two will help the ear drain. we've used it with our kids and it works every time.
I take my kids to a chiropractor so we don't have earache issues anymore. When we did I used Similasan Earache Relief and pulled gently and rubbed around the out ear so that the fluid could move around and (hopefully) drain.
