Dress for Vegas

So I'm going to Vegas next year for my husband's 40th birthday and I'm looking for a dress for going out to dinner and possibly a club. We are going with a big group and while clubs aren't my scene, we'll probably go. I like the one sleeve dresses and I want something a little loose fitting. I want something age appropriate. I'll be 35. I was wondering if someone knew where else I could get a cocktail dress that will cover my butt and have fabric to spare at the bottom. I'm thinking mid-thigh. I'm also thinking I don't want to spend more than $100 since I'll only wear it a handfull of times.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't think about renting. I'm hoping to look now so I can get a deal. We aren't going to Vegas until this time next year so I thought looking now would be a good idea. My husband is really excited about this trip and I really want to WOW him when we get there. I'm a jeans and T-shirt girl, so he will totally be surprised if I put a dress on for a night out, especially a cute little cocktail dress, better yet one that is trendy. All my dresses are for work functions for his job so they are more on the conservative side.

I love Vegas. Try Kohls, they have a whole section of dresses, ruffled skirts that you can pair with a nice strapless or one shouldered shirt. I always grab something new from there when my husband and I are gonna party in Vegas!

Go to www.renttherunway.com. It's great, because you can RENT a dress! They only carry designer clothes, and the great part about it is that you can order 2 sizes of the dress (in case you're not sure which size would work best). Before you place your order, you can read up on what styles work best for your body shape (based upon reviews by real women who have rented that style). They will overnight the dresses to you before your event, and they include return shipping, so you wear it, put it back in the box, ship it back, and Rent The Runway takes care of cleaning it, etc. They also have accessories you can rent. Even the expensive dresses are under $150 to rent, and many are in the $50 range. Why wear something from TJ Maxx when you can wear the latest Proenza Schouler or Badgley Mischka for less?! :)

Marshalls. You can get a nice dress for $20-$30 max. I don't wear sexy clothes but my dresses look good for my body (I'm 32) and that's all that matters to look good.

Just make sure the shoes you choose to wear are COMFORTABLE! I can't stress that enough for a Vegas trip. Please spend less money on your dress (you'll look fabulous!) and spend that extra bit on your feet. For men, most clubs will not let a man in unless he has a button up shirt and dress shoes.

Macy's, especially now for Labor Day weekend. Marshalls has great deals, as does JC Penney. Annie Sez has fabulous dresses, I found a dress for my goddaughter's sweet 16 for 70.00, and that was black tie! Smart thinking to start looking now. Good luck.

Next year? You have time darling. Depends what area you live in, it's different going to into a department store or boutique to try on stuff than to buy online. Anyways, I suggest Bloomingdales, Macys, Club Monaco, (Ann Taylor will sometimes surprise you) Also try www.bluefly.com or www.victoriassecret.com or www.francescascollections.com

Do not forget to try Marshalls, Ross, TJ Maxx..etc.

If I were you I would definitely look into renting a dress rather than buying. If it's something you normally don't wear, whats the point in keeping it.

I got a cute one shoulder at Dress Barn that's mid-thigh for around $35 I think. Also found one for a wedding at the beginning of summer at JC Penny.
Good luck and have fun!
