Drawer Pulls - Matching but in Two Different Sizes

Anyone have any idea where I could find matching drawer pulls in two sizes??

My grandparents have sent me my grandmother's mother's dining room furniture. It is in excellent condition with the exception of the drawer pulls - many of them pull right off when you try to open the drawer. It seems that the screw holes are stripped and yes I've tried new screws. The metal is just very old and soft. So, I need new pulls.

The problem is, the break front and the buffet have different size pulls! The sizes are so close (4 inch and 3.75 inch) that I am not finding one style pull that comes in both sizes, so that the two pieces will match.

Any ideas? Local (Dallas area) or online, either way would be fine.

Thanks in advance!

Ditto Marda. I have seen tooth picks broken and used in the holes.

I have 2 suggestions:

1) If you love the pulls, contact someone that works with metals, like a machine shop. They lprobably can drill the holes slightly larger so a larger screw can get some bite. For that matter, go to the hardware store and try a screw 1 mm larger in diameter. If the metal is as soft as you say, a bigger screw might just do the trick.

2) If #1 doesn't work, look into some face plates that sit under the pull. They'll cover up the new holes you have to drill to get the standard sized pull to fit all drawers. They can be very decorative and beautiful.

Any hardware store -- True Value -- Home Depot -- Lowes ect should have them.

I would also look for someone who restores antiques. It may not cost much to get them fixed. As an antique item the set is worth more if the orginal hardware is still in use.

Is there a manufacturer stamp somewhere on the piece? Like inside a drawer? If you can find it, you might could google that name and find replacement, original pulls........maybe on ebay or something?

If it's just the holes that are stripped and not the screws themselves. You can use the original pulls by glueing wood match sticks or small strips of wood inside the holes. Then the screws have something once again to grip.

I've seen my mother do this.

google "drawer pulls and knobs" and you will find the manufacturer of many knobs and pulls that are available in several sizes. Maybe that will help you. Or call their customer service dept and ask for a suggestion that meets your size needs. good luck

i would replace them all with something funky , cute or simple. There is a world of knobs out there. I would also keep the pulls to the furniture if its antique.
