My son's feet are two different sizes so we have been buying him 2 pairs of shoes (paying for a pair and a half) for the last several years. I'm just wondering what you have done with all the other pairs of un-worn shoes? and if there are websites were you can trade or purchase. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi. I have 2 different size feet. When they were close in size, I could buy one size and just stuff the toe of the smaller foot with dancer's wool. As my difference grew I had to start buying 2 different sizes.

Here are some sites that could help.

Glad to see someone else is having this same issue. My 3-year has hemi-hypertrophy and one foot is a size 9 1/2, the other an 11, so it has been expensive buying two different sized shoes. I am definitely going to try Nordstroms, especially since they sell StrideRite.

Thanks for the post!

Hi S.,

My husband has one foot larger than the other but not enough to make a big deal over. We were shopping for my daughter and stumbled across a pair of shoes that was on the shelf by mistake, from a regular shoe store. It was two different sized shoes but it was close enough for him to make do.....it was 150 dollar pair but they sold it to him for $10 because it was mismatched. We asked the store manager and apparently there are a lot of people that sneak two different sizes out of the store and then the store has to "eat" the loss. It may be cost effective to call or visit some of your local stores (I would only speak with the manager) and see if they are in that predicament.

Good luck!

M.

I have had this issue all my life but I usually buy the shoe for my big foot which is a size to a size and a half bigger than the other and then put an instep in the other. My parents never bought me two different size shoes. Nordstroms has a more generous policy and will let you buy two shoes that are different sizes.

my brother has 2 different sized feet, he was born with a club foot. My mom somehow hooked up with another mom whose kid had two different sized feet also, only the other foot than my bro was bigger, so they'd each buy a pair then switch the shoe they didnt need. If that makes sense. It worked out pretty well. Maybe you could put an ad on craigs list or something and see if you can find find another mom in your area with a similar problem?

One of my children has one foot bigger than the other too, but I always bought the shoe size that was bigger and never had a problem doing that.

nordstroms will sell you two different sized shoes for the price of a single pair. we used to buy our sons shoes there because they were such nice quality, a little expensive but growing feet need the right support. we also go to shriners hospital once a year and get a custom made arch support for him. if your son has other issues besides one foot being smaller (my son had one club foot), shriners is fantastic and they are free. my sons shoes are usually so worn out i dont need to worry about finding them another home!!

Well,
I have a daughter that is almost 14.
She has a clubbed foot. or Had one. Her left foot is a 9.5 and her right foot is an 11...we have a very hard time with shoe shopping. what we do with our extra shoe is Share. my feet are 9's. but i guess that is no help to you since you have a smaller boy. but we just buy shoes that we both like. and the extra 11 shoe just stays in the box, in the closet. and thank you ladies for the shoe websites. they are VERY helpful. :-)

I have two different size feet and have always had to buy the size that fits my bigger foot. "Sometimes" you can buy two different sizes but not always likely..

I myself have a two size difference in my feet ( actually from the waist down),when i was younger i had a pediatrist that sent me to a kind of special shoe place, cant remember what it was called, but they made an insert for right shoe (the smaller foot) that had a filler on the end. it made the shoes that were the same size fit both of my feet. i would look into that. also, there is a surgical procedure they could have done for me had the docters not waited until i was fully grown to do something about this problem to make my feet and legs the same size, let the little foot catch up to the big foot they said. i would look into that if its not to late.

Whoa! No help here with what to do with the extra shoes, but how different are they? I mean, my son measures half a size bigger in one foot than the other, but we always just buy the larger size and he does fine... no tripping or anything. It might be worth asking his pediatrician about any other solutions to the shoe issue, cause all those wasted shoes must be annoying. :-/
