If you go in to have it done as an outpatient ,then they might,if you are "knocked out ",but if you have it done immediately after a c section, which I had done 10 months ago, then,no,they do not, because you have an iv and you would be on anaesthesia.

I had my tubes tied a year and a half ago. I got mine tied right after having a c-section so I was already cut open. I personally had no tube down my throat and I ended up being put under due to so much pain from the ugly c-section. Best of luck to you.

I'm pretty sure that if you're put out then they put the tube down your throat.

Even laproscopically, if you're out, then you're tubed.

Are you worried about it? I had it done a few weeks ago and the sore throat lasted maybe 2 days.

yes they do. they give you IV meds first to put you to sleep, then intubate you. they do this to control your lung function while under anesthesia.

If they put you under general anesthesia, then yes, most likely they will, but it's not so bad and you should not have a tube down your throat while you are awake. There are also new tubal occlusion methods using Adiana or Essure that are put in hysteroscopically, so there are no incisions, but you must use alternate birth control for a month, or so. You could ask your doctor about those and they may be able to do that under conscious sedation, thus no tube, but often hysteroscopy is done under general, as well. Good luck!

I just had mask on face to go to sleep with an iv in arm for whatever was needed in that form. They made a small incision by my belly button and did tubal that way. Take it as easy as you can for a day or two then pretty much back to normal routine. I was SO glad to have it done and not think about having babies unexpectedly.

Nope...they shouldn't....If you're knocked out it is through the IV as far as anasthesia and then I think it is done laproscopically unless you're having it done during a C-section.
