Do 2 Babies Need Seperate Rooms?

Does anyone have two babies who sleep in one room with eachother? I'm having twin boys and I was going to put both their cribs in one room. A couple people told me this is a bad idea because they will keep eachother up all night and wake each other up. We're going to move before they are born so I want to know if I need to find a 3 bedroom instead of a 2 bedroom.

What can I do next?

I am the mother of 2 boys 11 months apart. In the beginning I tried to separate them but no matter what, they would always end up in the same bed, same room, same space. Now they are 5 yrs and 6 yrs and they are inseparable. To this day i find them in each others bed.

From what I've heard, let them a)sleep in the same crib and/or b)share a room.

They spend all that time in the womb together...they comfort each other...why take that away?

When they get older, by all means if they are hindering more than helping their sibling, give them separate rooms.

This information is coming to me via friends who have twins and a few pediatrician/medical staff friends.

At the very least, listen to your heart a.k.a. instincts; that'll tell you what is right for your children. :)

Hi C.,
I don't have twins, but my kids are 18 months apart in age. Since my son was a few months old, I had him share a room with his sister. Now that they are 4 years and 2 years, they tend to talk at nap and bedtime, but they sleep just fine. It has been such a blessing having them share a room. It has help create a wonderful bond b/t them, and it has helped them learn to share. I personally don't think that twins (especially)should be separated. My cousins are twins and they loved being together. Trust your instinct as their mom.

Get a three bedroom..... Although I've heard twins are more comfortable together, if you are thinking long term I would get the three just in case. My daughter is a VERY light sleeper and everything wakes her up so we can't move my son in there (he's 7 months) until we are sure he will sleep all night. I wish we had gotten a 3 bedroom.....

Hi C., I do have 18 month old twin girls. They are in the womb together right now and they only know being together. Mine still sleep in the same crib and I have no problems putting them down. I have asked on here if I should seperate them and it seems as though a lot of moms with twins let them sleep together. They are each others security blankets. Putting them in seperate craibs is fine but I would keep them in the same room.

I think that you should do what ever you are most comforable with. I am a twin, and my parents kept us in the same crib, even though our cribs were right next to each other we alway slept better when we were together.

Honestly, I've heard that twins will do better together. Not being the parent of a twin myself I am no expert, but I would research it before you decide to split them up. I've even heard of parents who put them into the same crib because they are so used to being able to touch each other that it makes them feel more secure after the trauma of childbirth. :) Hope this helps!
