I'm looking to buy a dishwasher in the next week or so, and am curious which brands/models people have liked. The one we have is a Whilrpool, and was the basic model that came in the appliance package when we built 10 years ago. So needless to say, it's ready to be replaced! I know what features I'm looking for, but would love to hear what experiences people have had with their dishwashers (in terms of performance and durability). My main request is that it needs to be QUIET. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We ended up with a Bosch, and so far, so good! It seems to be cleaning well, and it IS super quiet. A huge improvement! Thanks for your suggestions!

PS--Jill Andrusko at Lowes in Coon Rapids ROCKS! :)

I LOVE my new Bosch. It is so quiet it's hard to believe it's running. And it cleans great!

I have a Bosch that is about 5 years old and it is absolutely wonderful! It cleans really well and is whisper-quiet. I know Bosch makes a wide range of models at a wide range of price points. Our is a very middle-of-the-road choice and my parents have a cheaper model that they are very happy with as well.
Good luck!

We built our home 10 yrs ago and the dishwasher in the "package" was a GE Profile. It was HORRIBLE and DEAD within 3 yrs.

Then, I replaced it with a top of the line Maytag which came highly recommended. Low and behold...we bought the Maytag fridge and dishwasher when Maytag quality was shot. We replaced BOTH the dishwasher and fridge within a 3-5 yrs.

I have since replaced my fridge, dishwasher and cooktop with high end Kitchen Aid. I couldn't be happier. I LOVE these appliances.

We bought the fridge and dishwasher at Best Buy. They came out, set everything up and we got a fair deal. We love our Best Buy for appliances.

My recommendation is Kitchen Aid. We bought the best Kitchen Aid available and we have no regrets.

I love my Kitchenaid KUDS30IVWH. I got it about 5 months ago. The sales clerks and all their family members swear by Kitchenaid for dishwasher ONLY. The 3 salesclerks I spoke with said they have never had one returned or had a problem. That sold me. Check prices....550-699. And for sure go with the professional install. I have heard some nightmare stories. Great product. I love mine.
Also to add I love my automatic dish wash concentrate by Shaklee, I know that may sounds crazy, but it works wonders and super safe if a child should ingest it. Non-toxic, phosphate free, natural and superconcentrated.

Oprah loves Shaklee Get Clean line, she had as her FAVORITES. How cool is that. I do share/sell Shaklee. Let me know if you would like to try anything, money back guarantee. K. ###-###-#### I will offer a discount.
Happy Washing.

I have a fairly basic model of a Bosch. I wanted basic model because I didn't want to pay for all the "bells and whistles" that I wouldn't use anyway. I do like it but H A T E that the prongs are slanted. VERY difficult to make things fit. I desperately miss the silverware in the door of my old Whirlpool. Given the chance to re-do, I'd put silverware in the door as the absolute highest priority. It saves so much space!!!

I have a whirlpool quite partner 1. I love it. It has tons of room for all the dishes from my family of 5 that eats at home basically 3 meals a day. When the kids are inschool all day I can get away with only running dishwasher once unless large mixing bowls or something that takes up a ton of space. The silverware and cookware are in a basket attached to the door so takes up no room in the regular dish rack. The lower rack has alot of vertical space below the upper rack (which is great for pizzy pans, cookie sheets, things that wouldn't fit in some other dishwashers.) It doesn't take very long to get through all the cycles either. If I don't use the sanitizing rince and heated dry it is super fast. It is quiet enough that we really don't notice that it is on. I usually start the dishes right before I head to bed and the sound (which is above my bedroom) doesn't bother anyone in the house. I can also run it during nap time in the afternoon, which is when I study and write so doesn't bother me then either. I have had this for about 3 years (I think) and it still works great. I don't have to do tons of presoaking or rinsing, my old dish washer I basically washed the dishes before I put them in the dishwasher. Hope this helps :)
