Do you love your dishwasher? If so, would you mind sharing any pertinent details with me, such as brand, model, pros and cons, where you purchased it, etc? Also, very important for my husband, how did you get it home and did you/your significant other install it? Thank you!

So What Happened?

We bought this: Stainless Steel Kenmore Elite 24 in. Elite™ Built-In Dishwasher w/ Ultra Wash Filtration
Sears item# 02213113000 Mfr. model# 13113 at Sears. I was going to go with a Kitchen Aid until the sales lady pointed out that they're both made by Whirlpool and are very similar (they looked pretty similar to me, too). The Kenmore was rated number #1 by Consumer Reports (although the Kitchen Aid had rave reviews also), was on sale, and I had it delivered and installed for $20! It's been cleaning well so far, we don't rinse the dishes at all. My only disappointment is that the racks are smaller than I thought they'd be. The sales lady at Sears said I was not the only one who noticed that! We fill it up faster than our old one, but it's more of an adjustment than a problem--all of the dishes get washed in the dishwasher. Thanks everyone! P.S. I did just need to get used to it. The racks don't seem too small now. And, a friend just got a Bosch and the racks in there were much shallower than mine, so it helped seeing that too!

I put in a Kenmore at my first house and loved it. I have no idea which one it was. The store installed it for me and hauled away the old one.
I put a GE in my second house (bought at Lowe's) and do not like it as much as my Kenmore.

E.,
I am sorry this post is not full of specifics. We had a Kenmore dishwasher in our old house. It was not the very cheapest one, but it wasn't very expensive either. It had buttons on the top of the door with a locking feature so that the kids couldn't start it or mess with it. They could open the door, though, which would stop it. Anyway, I loved that dishwasher. We rarely rinsed our dishes before we put them in there and only the toughest foods ever stayed on the dishes. I do not remember that machine ever getting food all over the glasses, etc. We have lived two different places since then and neither of the dishwashers has worked worth anything. You have to wash the dishes before you put them in there. The one here is a GE, but I think it is pretty old. Hopefully they have improved. Oh, and we got the Kenmore at Sears. They delivered and installed it. I don't remember if we payed extra for that, but my husband is not a do-it-yourself guy unless he already knows how to do it.

Hope that helps. Sorry for all the rambling!

The Best Buy website also has customer reviews that I have found to be very helpful.

We just bought a kenmore from Sears. I don't know the model but it was rated consumer reports best buy in 2008. It has a smart wash that determines when the dishes are clean, heavy wash, pan wash & my personal favorite-turbo zone to clean those really nasty pans. It is quiet & energy efficient. The controls are on the outside but can be locked so your little ones don't change your settings. The silverware rack separates into 3 sections, 2 of which have covers that can close to hold bottle & sippy cup lids. It also has a few sections where you can fold down a row to create more room. I love it & my husband loves it.

I have had four Whirlpool dishwashers (in different houses). I put the one in here when I moved in. I went and looked at every dishwasher on the market and still stayed with my Whirlpool. Why?

Because it is the only dishwasher that had the flatware basket in the door. Doesn't take up any space on the bottom rack. I can get much more in there than the ones that have the basket on the bottom rack. And it cleans like a dream. I have never had to have one worked on yet.

I can't remember what I paid for this last one. I bought it at Best Buy. And I had them deliver and install it. No complaints.

I just bought a second home and it has a Kitchenaid . . . eventually I will take it out and replace it with a Whirlpool too.

Bosch is the way to go. Quiet, reliable, and does well with the hard water we have in this area. An appliance repair man was telling me that Kenmore, Maytag and Whirlpool (I may not be remembering this exactly right)have all the same motor which doesn't hold up well with our hard water. If you know an appliance repair person, I would get his opinion.

We have the stainless steel Kenmore Elite HE dishwasher. I really like it and its configuration inside. Makes loading it very easy. It also cuts down on the water used and the soap needed. My sister has the Bosch stainless steel 24" built-in one and likes it too. Hers has the hidden buttons on top so you cannot see unless you open the door- I think. My dishwasher's buttons are at the top but my daughter hasn't discovered them yet. If you can wait until President's Day, Sears usually has a sale and the delivery and installation are sometimes included. Just saying. I think they also offer this sale on President's Day too. We didn't install it because a friend who is a contractor told us about a change that occurred with Texas State inspection codes and the venting of a dishwasher. We figured Sears' installers would know what they were doing to keep it up to code. Good luck.

I love my Kitchen Aid it gets everything really clean even stuck on oatmeal. I bought it at best buy. We had it delivered and installed by best buy. If you watch the sales flyers they often have free delivery and sometimes free installation too. I would also check Lowe's and Home Depot to see what they have.

Hi E.,

I have the Frigidaire Gallery Series dishwasher and it was very reasonably priced. We bought it new last year when we got our house. Thus far, I have been extremely happy with it. There are some adjustable areas on the top and bottom racks and a spacious silverware tray. It has many features: top rack wash only, full load, normal wash, pots and pans washed, delayed start, etc. and has a garbage disposal. Overall, I have been very satisfied with it. We bought it at Sears and had them install it.

Good luck!
