we are baptizing our baby next weeken and need some dinner ideas. I really need something that will warm up nicely as the baptism is at five and wanted to serve dinner afterwards. Please share any ideas and recipes that are easy as I am not the best cook. Forgot to mention that it will be for about fifteen guests. I so wish I could afford catering.

What can I do next?

I have my daughter's baptism next month! Same thing...it's at 5:00. I'm going to probably order a sandwich tray from Firehouse subs, have some pasta salad made up in the fridge, chips, and fruit...This can all be picked up/made before hand and kept cold until we eat!

I can cook, but too stressful running home to get it all ready for people right after the baptism...cold is the way to go!

I agree with lasagna. Feeds a crowd, most everyone likes it, and the leftovers are delicious if you don't eat it all.

Do you want a dinner or finger food?
I have a great recipe for baked ziti that you can make ahead of time and then just throw in the oven. Then add a couple bags of pre-made salad and some french bread. Let me know if you'd like it.

You could do a taco bar.
Or crock pot a pork roast, shred, add bbq sauce and serve bbq sandwhiches.

I like a Baked Potato Bar with a couple of soups. Crusty bread or cornbread depending on what soups you offer. I put all the normal toppers on the buffet but also add, chopped beef, chopped onions, etc. Do you have a big crockpot or two? They make great meals for this kind of occasion. Good luck.

We have found pre-cooked, pre-sliced beef briskets at our supermarket. We just put them in a roasting pan and put it in the oven per directions. We've used them for our son's baptism as well as various family gatherings. I also utilize my crockpot for a hot side dish to accompany the meet, do a cold salad (fruit, maccroni or potato?) and I typically order bakery buns as an option for the meat to be a sandwich. Pretty fool proof.

My 8 year old just has his first communion in May of this year. I planned for 25 and wanted to do something different than I usually do, so we did a taco bar. I cooked the taco meat (hamburger) the night before and warmed it up in a crock pot the next morning before everyone ate. I also did mexican pulled chicken in another crock pot, beans in another. Corn & Flour Tortillas, along with all the toppings & salsas/guacamole. Went over even better than I imagined and everyone loved it. A friend of mine has a cupcake business so she did two types of gourmet cupcakes for dessert.

Well, I think you can never go wrong with a lasagna or casserole. It can be preapred ahead of time, throw it in the over with some nice dinner rolls and a large salad and you are good to go. Don't know how many people are going to be in attendance but something like that is always good for large groups or safe for freezing for leftovers! Good luck!

Last year for Tgiving my mom was in the hosp so I did dinner by myself for the first time. I don't really *like* to cook and I'm not really a *good* cook when I do! I did ALL my hot sides in crockpots. I have the recipes in a word doc if you want to send me your email address I can forward it to you, or anyone else that wants it. The basics were stuffing, potatoes, and green beans. You could either make a turkey or bake chicken. Good luck!!!
