Has anyone tried any diet pills with success. I researched Alli and the side effects are scary! I need something to take the edge off. I'm hungry all the time and chewing gum is not going to help me (like they say it will on the biggest loser)! Chewing gum when I want a brownie is just stupid lol :)
I need a kick start. I know how to eat healthy, I know what exercised I'm supposed to do...blah, blah, blah! Any suggestions?? Thanks

What can I do next?

I don't know of any pills that work. I go off the advice I once heard Oprah say "If there was a diet pill that truly worked I would have it" and since Oprah doesn't have any pills that seem to work I would guess there aren't any that truly work. After all you would think one of the richest women in the world would have it.

M. - Check this website out. It will REALLY work! The only side affect is to others... kink in their neck from staring!

M., I know how you feel. I have tried about every diet plan and pill out there. I have taken alli and lost 10 pounds, when I was eating right and staying active. The holidays got me tho!LOL! The side affects are very unpleasant, but if you watch how much fat you eat at each meal, you do not have them (or at least not as bad). You get those side affects from eating too much fat in your meals. But do be aware that they do not curb your appetite. I haven't found a pill that works for that, which is also my problem! I've also heard good things about the acai berry that someone else mentioned, altho I haven't tried it yet. Good luck to you!

Don't know about diet pills, but try snacks high in protein and/or fiber to take the edge off:

Protein water
Triscuits, reduced fat
Thomas "whole wheat" English Muffins toasted w/peanut
butter & banana slices
Egg Beaters egg whites--scramble 'em up with cubed ham
bits
Dried Apricots with a cup of skim or 1% milk
Apple wedges--skin on or baby carrots with peanut butter

Sounds like you didn't really want food advice, but I thought I'd throw some ideas out to you incase you read one and think, hey, that doesn't sound too bad...LOL!
Good luck, and I hope you find your magic pill, although I don't think one exists! :)

You are right, Alli is one of the worst diets out according to the scientific community. It was approved by the FDA and drug companies are working hard to get into weight loss because so many people are needing help and they want money because of loss with generic drugs.

However, I was a home economics teacher for 30 years, have my Masters in Nutrition, and have been in Shaklee for 36 years. This company does everything by science, has a great reputation, has patents, 90 published papers in professional journals, and everything is guaranteed.

We have products to give you energy fast as well as health, even for the stress you must be feeling. We also have a inch loss plan called Cinch that is easy, filling, and leaves one's muscle so you don't regain that weight.

Right now because of the economic crisis, our president is giving $100,000 for people losing inches between now and June. You can eat one meal with your family or restaurants, and receive personal and web guidance. It is unreal that 5 will receive $5,000, 5 will receive $10,000 and one will receive $25,000. I feel with my background, I can help serious candidates win at least one reward.

You can go to ____@____.com for more information. Then if you are interested give me a call at ###-###-#### for all the details. The only side effect is energy and good health!

M.,
i am no success story (yet!) but my goal is to get the excercise and sensible eating habits down, i'm doing pretty good. i still am not losing like i want to so i think once i have my "lifestyle" the way i want it, i'm going to supplment (and get a kick-start) with some sort of diet pill. i have heard good and bad things about alli, i think just like anything else it depends on how your body reacts to it. everyone will respond differently so for myself, i figure i will just have to try them for myself to see.

I started my new lifestyle change with about 80 pounds to lose. My doctor put me on phentermine. I have been taking it 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. I'm in my 2nd 2 weeks on and 5 weeks into the diet. I have lost 20 pounds so far.

This has been terrific. The side effects are not hard to deal with at all. I don't feel very hungry and when I do eat I am able to make better choices. I chose to do 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off because it tends to build up in the system and a person will need a higher dose for the same effect. Plus, I think it's helping to be able to practice the maintenance phase on my weeks off.

I joined sparkpeople online, bought a food scale and have started charting everything I eat. You do need a prescription to use phentermine.

Have you tried Herbal Life (www.herbalife.com). I used these several years ago and it just curbs your apetite but no weird side effects. Also gave me more energy!!

Adipex. you have to get a script from your doctor and it is not overed by insurance. It runs about $30 for a month supply. I lost 50 pounds in 5 months, stopped taking it and so far have been able to keep the weight off. It will mess with your cycles some but I would say that it is worth it. Good luck to you :) E. M

M., I'll be watching the responses you get. I've tried Alli and I definately had the side effects!! My husband was using it also and it did not seem to affect him as much. I did not like it!

I too feel like I need something just to help me get started and to keep the hunger pangs at bay.

I wish you luck! M.
