What foods are dairy free? Iam trying a experience of not eating dairy foods , am eating jello, and a little pudding, but am having trouble with meals. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Hi L.,
I like Val's suggestions. If you want to make sure you get enough protein, you may want to supplement. I love Shaklee's Energyzing Soy Protein. You can find it at http://www.shaklee.net/healthforlife. Their Cinch snack bars are also great.

You could do a lot of different types of meals with a variety of beans, rice, pasta and vegetables. Change up the seasoning... do coconut milk with curry for a Thai-inspired meal, or use basil, oregano, garlic and tomato sauce for an Italian or Spanish-inspired meal. Maybe look up some vegan cookbooks (John Robbin's May All Be Fed is one that I like).

Pudding probably has milk. Any milk, butter, yogurt and cheese are dairy dairy. Read labels. If you are allergic to milk you are probably allergic to whey.

Be sure you get plenty of protein, add in fruit and vegetables. Olive oil and garlic when cooking.

Victoria's products are extremely healthy.

I looked-up "dairy" on Wikipedia to make sure I knew exactly what was included in the technical definition:
milk, cheese, butter, cream, yogurt, casein

As long as you avoid those products or anything based in milk (cottage cheese, sour cream, etc), I think you'll be fine.

Depending on what you're trying to do, you may want to see if your insurance covers the cost of meeting with a dietician. I never knew their value until I got involved in the world of Diabetes, and I'm a huge proponent now.

hi~
pudding has dairy (unless it is soy pudding). If you are experimenting for allergy reasons some people who don't tolerate dairy also do not tolerate soy.
Here are some websites that list dairy free foods:
http://www.godairyfree.org/Table/Food-to-Eat/
http://www.vancesfoods.com/milkalternative.htm (milk replacement - does not have protein but has same amount of calcium as a glass of milk - you can also get calcium from dark leafy veggies)
http://allrecipes.com/recipes/healthy-cooking/dairy-free/... (all recipes.com is AWESOME - it rates recipes - 5 stars is highest, you can search by dairy free)

Good luck!
