We are having my cousin and his partner for dinner tomorrow night. My cousin let me know that his partner has a highly restricted diet due to an allergy. He cannot have ANYTHING that comes from a cow... meat, milk, cheese...

I have planned:
Hummus and chips for appetizer
Dinner: pork loin, egg noodles and roasted veggies

I need suggestions for dessert!

What can I do next?

If that's the only list of restrictions...

Angel food cake with a berry compote
Sorbet
Any cake, brownie or cookie recipe that doesn't have milk or butter. Many use oil instead of butter and most cookie, brownie and cake recipes don't have milk in them. If you google dairy-free desserts or vegan desserts you will come across literally thousands of recipes.

one of our favorite desserts is just fresh strawberries and cool whip (cool whip is non dairy) if you want it fancier go with mixed berries like strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. put it in fancy bowls and wala it looks lovely. you could if you wanted serve it with little cookies

This time of year strawberry shortcake is delicious. Angel Food Cake is dairy free.

Go to allrecipes.com and type in non dairy desserts, there are lot's of them. Angel food cake with fresh fruit, jello type desserts are good. Maybe non dairy milks like soy milk, almond milk could be substituted in recipes.
Pie crusts don't need milk, any fruit pie would be good, apple, peach, berries, etc.

I was going to suggest an apple crostata-but how do you make pastry without butter? How does one live without butter? Maybe vegetable shortening?

I love your ideas for dinner!

You could do a sorbet or sherbert with fruit.

If you PM me your email address, I can send you recipes for chocolate cake, or chocolate chip cookies, or many others if you know something you'd like me to look up. I have two dairy free cookbooks (one specifically for baking).

Also, Ghiradelli DOUBLE chocolate brownies are dairy free. Make sure it's the double chocolate. Super easy to make and super tasty.

My son cannot have any dairy at all (though he can eat beef), so I can guarantee that these items do not contain dairy or the proteins that cause the allergies.
