Dr. Thai Ann Doan in Oklahoma City, on May Avenue just south of N. W. 122nd is a great pediatric dentist. Parents are always allowed back with their kids. I can't imagine a dentist telling you you can't be with them. We've had two teeth pulled and a couple of fillings done with her and I couldn't have been more pleased. The staff, as well as Dr. Doan, are very kid friendly and explain everything to the kids on their level. They are also very helpful if you need to break your payments up.

dr Garzon in Edmond is great! she is really gentle, and lets me stay with the kids with no problem. she even has a fall carnival to get to spend time with the kids and get to know them without any of the fear of an appointment. this really helped my 2 year old who FREAKED out the first time, then after the carnival, sat in the chair by herself while i held my four year old's hand. they are quick, too. xrays, cleaning, visit with dr garzon, all done in about 15 minutes, so they don't have time to wig out.

Call a couple pediatric dentists and ask their policy on this. Your daughter may surprise you. The first time I took my kids, the dentist or hygenist came out to the waiting room talked to them and played with them for a few minutes. Then said "Can I show you where I look at teeth?" and my kid walked off hand in hand with the dentist. I was shocked how smoothly it went.
Remember it is adults that have painful past experiences that are afraid of dentists. Kids have no reason to fear a dentist - they have cool chairs, cool tools, many have TVs mounted on the ceiling, and they give away prizes. My kids LOVE the dentist. Don't let any of your fears transfer to your kid.

I recommend you find a pediatric dentist. They specialize in children. I took my kids to one and it was a positive experience for them. It really does work better if you don't go back with them. They know how to care for the kids without trauma. Momma keeps the child rooted in anxiety. I know it's hard, it was for me especially when my daughter had dental surgery. But, they really do a great job with the kids.
