Before my husbands dental insurance(if u want to call i that) kicked in he went to a place between Lake Worth and Eagle Mountain Lake, called Discount Dental. They are supposed to be alot cheaper in their fees because the doctor has his office set up at his home, so his overhead is much less. His name is Dr.Earl Love, my husband seemed to like him alot, and his staff was really nice! And They charged him $1,600 total for his root canal! It might be worth the drive if you can save $500! Thier number is ###-###-####. They take insurance also! I don't know if they still do but they used to do Saturday appts. also! Good luck!

I am not sure were you live but my brother goes to a really good dentist in Cedar Hill. The dentist is reasonably priced and he let my brother set up a payment plan right in his office. (His credit is shot too) I am going to check them out. Let me know if you live near the area and I will get the number for you.

AmeriPlan can help you in this. AmeriPlan has the largest discount medical/dental provider base in the US. Most of the time it can be used in combination with insurance, however it depends on your policy.

The cost of a single dental plan is only $14.95/mo and $19.95 for entire household. AmeriPlan dentists provide discounts of 20% to 80% off dental services. Root canals are up to 56% off, meaning if the normal fee is $788 for a root canal, it would be around $350 with AmeriPlan.

I have been an Ameriplan benefits specialist for over 2 years and I've helped MANY people save money on their dental. I recently helped a member save $800 on a crown with AmeriPlan, after she had paid $1500 for a root canal because she didn't know about AmeriPlan at that time! She was pretty excited. Incidently, this same plan includes discounts of vision, prescription and chiropractic, as well.

If you would like more info, you can visit this website www.Dental80off.com or call me at ###-###-#### and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. It would be my pleasure to help you save money.

We've been there with our older daughter. We've paid at least $10,000 out of pocket for her teeth. The dental insurance we had until recently would pay $3000/year which is generous as plans go but that doesn't go far when you have major work to be done.

What we ended up with for her is a dental discount plan. Just google it and you'll come up with several hits. Not every dentist takes every plan, so if you have a particular provider you want to use, check their provider list.

The plan was around $100 for a year's coverage. I know that it saved us several hundred dollars per tooth. There is no maximum and you should be able to use it with your insurance to make it go further.

Have you investigated getting into Baylor College of Denistry in Dallas? They use volunteers to teach the students.

My dentist also offers CareCredit, which I will be using next year to pay for my invisalign treatment. This can help break-up major expenses into smaller monthly installments. Some dentists may give you the option of monthly installments - it never hurts to ask. You might also look for your local Community Dental Care clinic (inside Parkland COPC clinics). You may or may not qualify for services at this clinic. Google them to find their clinic locations.

i completely understand what you are going through! i've had some major work done recently and our insurance only covers $1,000 per year. it is miserable. but, i went to monarch dental in grapevine (i work up there). i don't know if they are all this way, but they let me pay what i could on the day of treatment. then i was billed for the rest. i didn't have to have a credit check or apply for care credit; it was much simpler than all of that. i know you feel awful now and don't want to spend the money, but, trust me, it will be worth it when it's done! best of luck to you and your teeth!

Talk to the office staff at the dentist. They usually don't advertise that they will work with you but I have set up unoffical payment plans with every dentist I have used in the past few years (can't find one I like). I totally understand, I just finished off paying for my root canal from last spring.

I'm not sure about the dental work but I can give you some good tips on how to repair your credit. I teach credit repair seminars at my church.

Check into the Baylor college of dentistry. They do discount work for students to practice on you. Each student is closely supervised and if you have extensive work to be done, you will usually see someone who is already a dentist but working on a specialty. I have friends who have participated in their programs and have been amazed and very happy with the quality of work and pricing.

I know the feeling. Dentists and teeth can be very expensive. We've switched Dentists and found there is a credit card called CareCredit. You apply for it and it is for Dental appt/surgeries, other medical treatments too. We use that and it really helps out a lot. Monarch Dental is who we go to and they offer Care Credit. You might check with your Dentist and see if they offer CareCredit.

Have you tried talking to the Billing/Accounting Manager at the Dentisit's office to work out a payment plan? You might try that and see if you pay $25 or $50 a month on your bill. Maybe that might be an option, if you can't get the CareCredit or put it on some other credit card.

Good Luck
