Hi there, I need some referrals. Our deck needs to be cleaned and sealed and I had no idea it was going to be so expensive. I realise it needs t be done to preserve the wood but friends who recently had theirs done paid in the area of $1000 and that just seems to much. Please does any body know of a company that does reliable work at reasonable prices. Thank you so much. L.

Hi L.-- I used to work for a company that does this service, and it can be expensive. The company that I worked for was a painting company, and I think they tend to charge more than the deck companies.
My neighbor, Chris, owns Deck Solutions in Montgomery (although he goes everywhere). He is very professional and reliable. He does really good work and completes the job quickly. It does not hurt to call him and get a free quote. Also, mention that you talked to Rachel (that's me). We are not just neighbors, but he was an usher in my wedding, so we are close friends.

His number is:###-###-####

Best of luck--call him soon, though, I know he is extremely busy this time of year!

Hi,

Go to yorkvillecedarworks.com

The owner is a great guy and his prices are very reasonable. He did our fence and a lot of my friends fences.

Last time I talked to him he mentioned he would stop offering that specific service, but you can always call and ask.

Hi L.,

We use a powerwasher to clean the deck first. If you don't own one you can rent them. Practice spraying on concrete for the pressure and which nozzle you will use, because it could actually splinter and dent the deck. Then we use a sprayer like the kind for lawn fertilizing. We've used the Thompson Water Sealer 5 gallon cans and poor some into the sprayer, pump it for the pressure and you control the spray. Make sure you do it when it is not going to rain for about 24 hours. Ask the guys at Menards or Home Depot and read the label on the sealers.

Good Luck
