I'm currently looking for a daycare (either in-home or a regular) for my baby who is due in June 2010. Do you have any recommendations for a 6 week old?

Try pickofnorthtexas.com , this is a professional organization of in home care givers. Also, http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/child_care/about_child_care_l... is the state licensing agency webpage and they have lists of questions and you can look up potential care givers' records.

My personal experience has been great with in-home daycare in Frisco. My son is 29 months old and we love our in-home provider. I did have a friend who used Primrose in Frisco and did not have a good experience. I'm sure every environment is different so be sure you get references and really look into them. If you are looking in the Frisco area I would be happy to pass along some information to you. Best of luck!

I highly highly recommend "Suzette's Little Angels" in-home daycare in the HIghpoint subdivision in McKinney (right across the street from McKinney North HS). Our DD has been with her for almost 2 years, and I can't say enough good things about her. I honestly believe DD gets better care from her than she would from me--in addition to lots of love, she does a school-type curriculum with the "older" (1 yr and up) kids--DD will be 3 in April, and can already recognize all of her letters, numbers to 10, and spell her own name. She has clear behavior standards for the kids, and enforces them through love and positive reinforcement, e.g. saying please and thank you, being respectful of others. And my DD will get on you if you don't wait for everyone to be seated and served and say grace before you begin eating--she'll let you know that's not allowed! Anyway, I'm expecting #2 in April and will send her to Suzette when I go back to work in the fall (I teach). PM me if you want more details and/or contact info.

I personally think that children of all ages should receive interaction with other children. In home care doesn't have the curriculum that a private preschool such as Primrose can provide. When my son was born we struggled with the same question and we found Primrose School of Forest Creek. I love the care and education my son gets there. You should give them a try here is the website. www.primroseschools.com/forestcreek.
