Date Night Suggestions

Anyone have a suggestion for a date night in or around McKinney or Allen area? It's our 11 year anniversary! We are going to dinner, probably to Rick's Steakhouse in downtown McKinney. Never tried it, but heard good things about it. I'd like to have something to do afterwards, something other than a movie. Any ideas or suggestions? We never get a night out alone, so I'd hate to go back home after only doing dinner.

Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thanks to everyone who gave suggestions! We decided on Rick's and it was so yummy! I recommend it to anyone who has a special occasion.

We ended up just walking around downtown McKinney. Everything was closed that late at night, but it was nice to just get out without kiddos!

I know you don't want to do a movie but have you checked out Gold Class in the Fairview shopping area? It's expensive but it's definitely a different, more upscale way of watching a movie. Also, the bowling place in the Fairview shops has opened (sorry, can't remember the name right now). I do know you need reservations to bowl though, don't expect to walk right in or you'll have a wait time of 2 hours!! You could also go to a park and swing or hit the rec center for swimming or tennis etc.. What about leaving Rick's and head somewhere else for dessert? I personally love Bonnie Ruth's desserts (Watters Creek) then just walk around. There is always dancing at that new Braza Dancante in the Allen shops if you and your hubby enjoy that kind of thing. Or, invite friends to come with so you spend the night laughing with other adults! Have fun!!

I would stay away from Watters Creek only because it's over run with kids on concert night and is more of a family event, and I know when I'm out without my daughter, I don't want to be surrounded by kids. Legacy in Plano is nice, my husband and I go there often. We love people watching and go to Sambuca, they have a great band and the mix of people is awesome. Did you see Date Night the movie? My husband and I make up conversations and stories about others. We also like bowling and we are probably going to try Splitsville in The Village of Fairview. I also have some friends that like Loft 610, which I think is now Social 121 at 121 and the Dallas Tollway. The food good, but it's "cougar" town. My husband and I were leaving and I stopped in the bathroom which was in the bar. When I got out, he was surrounded by older women.

Rick's is good!! We love to go to high end restaurants for special occasions. Melting Pot was a lot of fun and good food, we love Del Frisco's and III Forks.

As for the afterward.. we only do movies as a family on Christmas day. Just a tradition.

Watters Creek has live bands Thurs-Sun nights. We love it. The only thing is that it is more family oriented so there are a lot of kiddos around.

Shops of Legacy is very nice like Watters Creek but more adult and not as many kiddos. There are several places with good music, sports bars, etc.

We've had a date night priority since we got together and still do it weekly, after almost 25 yrs!

Do you like concerts? The wildflower festival also has some good concerts. It usually goes on about this time of year.

Have fun!

Hi E.,
Happy Anniversary! I live in Mckinney too, and love to browse in all the stores in downtown Mckinney where Rick's Steakhouse is. I love trying to find things from my childhood in the antique stores--ha--giving away my age now. Your husband might not be keen on the browsing, but thought I'd suggest it.
Also in case your're open to other suggestions for dinner options, we recently tried 'The Melting Pot in Addison, which was fun and yummy. It is dark inside and you can have private booths which I feel is romantic. Have fun!

How about bowling or miniture golf. Then maybe park the car at a park and make out like teenagers.

My hubby and I went to Rick's for our anniversary last year, it was the first time we'd been there and it was FANTASTIC! When making the reservation they asked if it was a special occasion and we said yes, our anniversary. So they gave us a complimentary dessert and wrote on the plate "Happy Anniversary!" We, too, didn't want to just go home but also didn't want to go to a movie. We wound up just walking around downtown and found ourselves in Cadillac's Pizza Pub listening to some live music and having a couple of beers. It was a great night.

Gregory's Bistro on the Square in McKinney is wonderful...it is a long dinner process if you get the "courses" where they will match your food to any wine you bring in...it is BYOB if you plan on having any drinks. They have a FB page you can check out the menu. VERY quaint, need reservations, only like 15 tables....we love it. it is our anniversary/go-to date night place.
