Cramps During Pregnancy

I am only about 8 weeks and I had horrible cramping in my lower ab this morning. Of course I have a call in to my OB but wasn't sure if this is normal. I just had a sono on Wednesday and everything looked great but I'm stressing! I didn't have any of this with my first child.

What can I do next?

Hi S.,

PLEASE do not worry yourself about the cramping. I have 2 children and I cramped with both of them off and on from 6 weeks to around 11 weeks. I even started to spot with my second child around 10 weeks. As the other women stated, it's just your ligaments stretching, etc. My OB said if you have already seen a healthy baby with a strong heartbeat, there is nothing to worry about if you are just cramping. Most of all, remember...your pregnancy is a gift from God Almighty who loves you more than anything...you need to lean on Him and not on your own understanding. Start thanking and praising Him now for the wonderful healthy baby that you are going to give birth to 8 months from now!! I recommend a great book called " Supernatural Childbirth" by Jackie Mize. I read it when I was pregnant with my second child and it totally changed my outlook. I started praying over my body and my baby right after I read that book and God is so faithful...He gave me everything I prayed for and He WIll do the same for you(God is no respecter of persons). God Bless You!!

I also had A LOT of cramping and had round ligament which is due from stretching and pulling. I had it so bad that I had to get on bedrest plus I had A LOT of stress in my life. My wedding, separation, complications.

Don't stress. You might want to call your OB to be on the safe side and if you are worried.

Good Luck and God Bless

S.,

I had cramping also with my pregnancy....turned out fine, I now have a beautiful 9 month old baby girl. I would still check it out with your OB just to be safe. I did have some spotting etc early on also, and after my ob's concern and testing found that my progesterone was too low for early pregnancy, and needed to take progesterone early on to carry my baby full term.

I hope it is nothing and I really suggest you contact your OB as soon as you possibly can. I had spotting with my first pregnancy and everything turned out fine but I did just have a miscarriage with my third pregnancy. I am not trying to scare you but I just went through this one week ago. I started spotting and cramping and went my OB the next day to find out I was miscarrying. I had just seen the heartbeat 6 days earlier with an ultrasound and everything was fine. It was a scary feeling and I went through all the normal emotions. I am praying that in your case it is just the ligaments stretching. But please contact me if you want to talk. My advice is to contact your OB immediately...he will most likely give you a sonogram and do an internal as well. I will pray for you and your baby. Good luck! And please contact me to talk.

You can have early braxton hicks, contractions. Not sure of the spelling. Your doctor is still be the best resource at this time.

I had a lot of cramping in my first trimester. I was told also that it was ligament stretching. Remember, there's LOTS going on there right now, lots of growing and stretching.
