My 4 month old daughter has cradle cap.... My mom told me to put baby oil on it, but that just made her scratch it. The pediatrician said to rub vaseline in her hair, but thal sounds like it would be HARD to get out.

Has anyone else had experience with this? What did you do about it? I'm shampooing her hair daily & combing/brushing it often. Any other advice???

What can I do next?

Try Mustela Stelaker lotion. You should be able to find it at a drugstore, or maybe Babies R Us. If not, try drugstore.com. It is great for cradle cap, and also the dry flaky skin babies tend to get behind their ears. Good luck!

I only put lotion on my babies hair, I never liked the way babyoil made it look. All you can do is wash it every other day and comb it. You just have to let it run it's course, it will go away eventually. I have seen some stuff at walmart thats for cradle cap, I have never tried it tho.

i left it... it does nothing bad and is almost gone now. it bothers you to look at it more than them to have it.

Gerber makes a cradle cap kit. You can probably get it at any drugstore...I got a free sample from the pedi. To be honest, olive oil worked a lot better.
Good Luck!!!

I used Vaseline... you rub it in their hair -- sort of like massage it in there... it sticks to all the "scaly stuff" and holds it. Then you wash the hair several times to get the Vaseline off. It works... Sometimes, if it wouldn't come out easy with that, I would put the Vaseline on and take a fine tooth baby comb and comb from the scalp up to loosen the cradle cap.

The baby's hair is really fine, so the Vaseline won't stick to it as much as it would with a person with hair that has a lot of texture...
