So What Happened?

Thank you all for your replies. I forward'd this information to my daughter. I was asking for her, she is due to give birth to our first Grand Baby this November. A girl. God is good.

Hi M.,
We used Neocells for both of our boys. They are one of the cheaper companies, started by the former CEO of one of the bigger, more expensive companies. We have been VERY pleased with their professionalism, prices, etc. If you choose to go with them, let me know; I get a referral bonus (but I would NEVER recommend them for that reason only or if I weren't very happy with them!).

I tried to donate mine, but they wouldn't take it. I filled out all the paperwork through the one registry I could find for donations, and they turned me down (no reason given).

As far as I'm aware, none of the hospitals around here take donations, but I gave birth 3 years ago, so that might have changed since I gave birth. You could pay a private company to store yours for you if you're interested, but it's expensive. I opted to donate instead of store because I'd read if your child has certain genetic conditions, your own cord blood is useless to them anyways.

Usually blood is frozen and shippped away. I think you should think about donation. seriously. chances are your child will not be able to use their own cord blood. My 1st child has had to deal w/ brain tumor treatment for yrs, and I donated blood from #3. I knew it could be helpful to someone else, but, do nothing for us. just my 2 cents.

Hello
With my youngest child I did do cord banking, I did go with one of the larger companies out there. There was a brochure in the doctor's office and they're located in AZ, away from most states prone to any major natural disaster to prevent any damages.
Hope I never have to use it, did it for peace of mind
