Cookware Advice!!! HELP...

I LOVE LOVE my Stainless All-Clad. I bought the higher end one and it is SO worth it. I've had it over 6 yrs and it all still looks new. It is pricey but worth it. I 'aid about $120 for a small saucepan and then I paid over $600 for a set with 6 in it which I though was a steal.

My mom has a stainless set (Saladmaster) she bought when I was a baby and she still uses it and it still looks new.

I also LOVE my cast iron and i use it a lot as well. There is nothing like a well seasoned cast iron pot!

I've had the same JC Penney Home stainless steel set for over 10 years.

They still look like brand new. And the non-stick on the pans is still in great shape. Yes, they have a heavy bottom, but not as heavy as most out there.

Copper are definietly the best(I have some). Next best is stainless steal. I have the Belgique brand ones from Macy's I adore-only thing is with ss pans for best performance you need to handwash them. I guess it also depends on how much cooking and how fancy it is that you do. I cook and bake a TON so I got higher end stuff-now for the pans I don'tuse alot(like a griddle, waffle iron, etc) I'm fine just going to yardsales:). I wouldn't buy any non stick pans from walmart(can't think of the brands) as I have never had great luck with them.

Revere ware with the copper bottoms are very good quality .. My Husbands Grand parents had the whole set and even after all of these years their set looked great.

My favorite cookware are my Le Crueset.. Stainless pieces.

I am a short woman with small hands and so I have a lot of trouble with Caphalon.. Which h I adore.. I would love a set of it.. But it is just too heavy for me.

I used to only use non-stick. Then my MIL bought me some stainless steel cookware (I don't know the brand). There was a bit of a learning curve but now the only thing I use it that and my cast iron. Unlike non-stick I don't have to worry about what utensils are used in it and I have yet to have to replace any,

I think I ended paying $150 for this set.

Try checking out IKEA if you have one. They have pretty good quality stuff (won't last FOREVER but a long time) and cheap enough to where you can try something and if you really like it buy more. Otherwise, we've also had good luck with finding good quality cookware at outlets, Marshall's, Ross etc.

Keep in mind that with pots, often the heavier the better :| We have a combination of things, not a packaged set: cast iron/enamel, cast iron, aluminum and nonstick.

Everyone needs a good cast iron skillet -- the older the better :)
