Colon Cleanse - Cumberland,MD

I have been reading a lot about colon cleansing products lately and want to get some really stories abut them. What product did you use? What were the side effects? Any other information you can provide is greatly appreciated. Here's the deal, i have been working out 4 days a week now, watching my diet and am still having trouble losing the last of the 10 pounds I want to lose. I have been reading that a colon cleans product will have get rid of the excess junk my body is holding onto and will help my body burn fat better. Is that true?

What can I do next?

I got one of those Acai Berry/colon cleanse products about three years ago. THey made me violently ill. I took one pill right before dinner like it said. I ate a reasonably sized dinner and went to bed. By 2AM I was so violently ill I thought I was going to die. THought maybe I had food poisoning.
I then waited for a couple weeks before I took another pill. I was doing this over Thanksgiving. When I took another, BAM same thing happened. I was so violently sick I almost had my daughter call 911. I was throwing up, projectile vomiting and had diarhea like I have never had it before.
So I shelved the pills and basically forgot about them until after Christmas. By this time the company had sent me three bottles of the poison. I finally, in January, called them to return my product and they said no I couldn't have any refunds, even thought they said if I returned any unsed pills to them they would refund me. I went to the credit card (Discover) to stop payment with the company and found out they were in litigation with this comapny about just these practices. Discover did refund me for two months of product.
Please eat more salads and higher fiber foods. I joined Weight Wachers. It is all about portion control and healthy eating. Pills won't do that for you. I learned the hard way.

If you want to cleanse your colon, eat more fiber. Don't waste your money on those products.

That being said, doing interval training and lifting weights in addition to eating a well-balanced diet will help you lose those 10 lbs.

My husband and myself (and my parents) have all done colon cleanses. We purchased ours from a natural path doctor and his chiropractor daughter. The one we did lasted 7 days. You alternate every hour and a half drinking this (awful) liquid or taking pills (The pills are really just a replacement of the food you would normally be eating. Vitamins and stuff like that.) So you eat NO food for the 7 days.

It goes by your weight how many times you do rotations so my husband would start at 4 am and be done at 5:30 pm and I would start at 7 am and by done at 5:30 pm. You truly don't feel hungry because the liquid and all the water you drink with the pills keeps you full. HOWEVER, you do feel very tired and run down for the first couple days.

This cleanse ran about $200 per person the last time we did it. (I think it's been about a year or year and a half.......)

My husband lost like 25 pounds the last time and I usually lose 10 to 15 pounds as well. And we ate a pretty balanced diet with organic fruits and vegetables and salads almost every day. No pop, RARELY eat fast food, etc. However, we do have desserts and the garbage we do eat will build up in your body so the colon cleanse takes it all out!

So as long as you plan on making some changes to your lifestyle (eating) after doing a colon cleanse, I say go for it. BUT it won't be a magic cure if you plan on returning to old habits...... My husband has kept his weight off since the last cleanse and people STILL comment on how good he looks. I'm pregnant so I have gained weight again! LOL. But I keep it off between cleanses as well with the exception of when I get pregnant.

PS> My dad met this natural path doc because he had the beginning stages of colon cancer. He did this cleanse and followed a strict diet and is cancer free! NEVER did chemo or any of the "normal" ways of treating cancer. It's been OVER 13 years since he got the "news". He does the cleanse every year or so. And is quite healthy!

Everything that I have ever read has said that you do not need to "cleanse" your colon. I wouldn't waste the time or money if I were you. The last 10 pounds are ridiculously hard to lose. I have been working on mine for 8 years now! Diet will really be the key to weight loss. Just watching your diet might not be enough. You will probably need to really ramp it up.

I just went through the same thing. I have been watching my diet and exercising but I plateaued. I was also informed from my dietician that a detox what fix my problem. She said it's like putting oil into a car with an old oil filter and that I should detox every three months. She was right, of course. I am now losing weight again and I feel so much better. I ate fruits veggies and fruits for a week and drank lots of water with lemon. In addition i did my research and found that NutriClean the most complete detox kit on the market. it cleanses your liver, gallbladder and colon. You can find it here: http://www.visionary-wellness.com. Good Luck!

Unless you are constipated don't count on a colon cleanse for weight loss. Those cleanses are highly overrated. AF

I've heard mixed results about the cleansing products, kind of like what I've read here. I was feeling kind of sluggish and needed to lose weight. What I did was focus more on doing it with my diet. I started eating oatmeal, drinking almond milk (vanilla flavored by Silk), and having cranberries, either in 100% juice, as a snack (Oceanspray makes them, they're with other dried fruits in the grocery store), or even cranberry sauce heated with some granola as my dessert. It made a HUGE difference in how I felt. After maybe two weeks I allowed myself to have different things for breakfast, but still tried to maintain the cranberry aspect. I just got back from vacation where I ate terribly, so I'm getting ready to start my oatmeal & cranberries again. Oh, and I eat a light lunch and a normal dinner. Even with a dinner of southern comfort foods, I still feel better and lose weight with the oatmeal for breakfast and the cranberry throughout the day. Both of those (and almonds) have a LOT of health benefits.
