Clues That Lead to Husbands Christmas Gift

So my husband is an avid guitar player. Loves it as much as his family. Lately he has been traveling alot and not getting to play. He mentioned once in passing that maybe he should look into a travel guitar. I got him one for Christmas and he is going to be so surprised. I can not wait t give it to him. I want to make a big deal about it versus just handing it to him , wrapping it would give it away.
Does anyone have any fun clues (ideas) that I could give him that would lead him to it? Possibly a Scavenger Hunt type situation. I 'm just looking for something to make it really special when he finds it.

What can I do next?

Speaking as a guy, I would suggest just wrapping it and putting it under the tree. Unless the scavenger hunt ended with the guitar in the bed with you naked beside it.

Every Christmas someone in our family opens a gift that leads to a scavenger hunt. They open a gift that looks like a normal, wrapped package, but inside is a note (usually a poem - I'm an English teacher, and we all love language). The poem leads the person to the next location where the next poem will be found. The next poem leads to the next location until eventually the gift is found.

You could do the same thing, and maybe play off of song lyrics?? Or include a lot of musical puns?? There are so many ways you could include musical allusions without giving away what the gift is. Scavenger gifts are so much fun! Merry Christmas!

Does the hunt have to be restricted to your home? In my imagination, the trail could lead him in the car to various (closed for Christmas) guitar stores, at the doors of which you have previously posted clues. Or, perhaps, it could lead him to the homes of his guitar-playing friends - if they live close enough - and they can be in on this game. Of course, the trail would end back home where the new guitar, with a ribbon on it, would be sitting in his favorite chair.

I've done this for my husband before and it was a huge hit! I love the idea about clues related to music. I just tried to rhyme, and used clues that related to special events in our history together. Then they'd be hidden behind picture frames or other special momentos in the house. I think I did about 5 clues so it would be fun but not take too long.

Is a scavenger hunt, or some other clue thing something your husband would like? My husband would be totally frustrated by it, even though it's something I would like to do and/or receive. Just make sure your husband will like the big fuss, and not be irritated by it.

You could run a ribbon or string all through different areas of the house/garage leading to the gift. Start at the Christmas tree and end where the gift is (kind of like an obstacle course). Of course, you would have to do this after he went to sleep on Christmas Eve.

Oh my mom used to do that for us for our Easter baskets! SO FUN!!

You can wrap it in a big box...right? My son is getting an electric guitar and it came in a big box...but we're going to set their instruments out so they can play (God help us) right away.

This is not a hunt idea, but do you have kids? Why don't you take the guitar and kids around town and take pictures of them with the guitar in a bunch of different places (you know...specific to Dallas area) and give him a little album of them with the guitar. You could do that fairly quickly and it would be a fun memory of the kids at that age. Plus...it picks up on the fact that it is a "travel" guitar. Of course, he would know what it was the moment he opened the album.

Good luck!

Ditto Kathy P.

That would not go over well with anyone in my house. Just make sure you know if it would be something that would go over smoothly in your house.
