Cloth Swim Diapers?

Has anyone ever used a cloth swim diaper instead of the typical disposable brand? I found some in the One Step Ahead catalog and it seems like a good investment, but I am hesitant and wondering if anyone else has tried this?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the suggestions! I agree about the cost of those disposable being ridiculous and I can't bring myself to buy another bag for this year! I am having a hard time finding the cloth ones in Target, I can't even find them at Target online - I will check out Babies R Us and some of the other recommended sites. Thanks so much!

I have always used "swimsters" at mypoolpal.com. They are the only swim diaper that my daughter's swim instructor allows. They run small, so I recommend buying a size or two larger. I have never tried another brand, but definitely recommend cloth over disposable.

We've used reusable swim diapers for all of our kids. We tried the disposable ones one time on a vacation and hated them. They don't work! There is no elastic around the waste so that means the poop just floats away into the pool/lake/ocean/whatever. Eww! Most public and neighbhorhood pools around here won't even allow disposable swim diapers for this reason. They only allow swim diapers that have elastic around the legs and the waist.

I haven't tried the ones from One Step Ahead. We've gotten ours from places like Meijer and Target in the kid pool/summer toy areas (where the goggles, snorkels, floaties, water guns, etc are). They come in several sizes and lots of different designs and are only a few bucks.

I also love the Imse Vimse ones. I have a couple different kinds, including Bummi and Target ones, and my son will NOT let us put on any but his Imse Vimse!

I just ordered a cloth swim diaper. We use cloth diapers instead of disposables, so it wasn't a stretch for us to use cloth swim diapers! In fact, once I realized they made cloth swim diapers, I was kicking myself for spending all that money last summer! Cloth works the same as the disposables. They are both meant to hold in solids and let the liquid pass through. With the cloth, you just have to wash it out instead of throwing it away. I bought this one https://www.kellyscloset.com/Imse-Vimse-Swim-Diapers_p_32... I love the website too! Kelly (that's really her name) ships really really fast and is always offering great deals on shipping.

I have used the washable swim diapers and have been happy with them. Target sells them for $5. I did not want to pay $10 for a pack of swim diapers that my friends don't have good things to say about. I have not had a poop in one yet thankfully! I would grab one at Target to test out.

I've used ones from Target and Babies R Us. You can also get them made by cloth diaper companies: http://toastybaby.com/bummi--swimmi.html

Yes and they work great. I just use the Target brand. They wash up easliy and are far less expensive than disposables, oh and they hold everything. My little guy really put them through the test : )

I absolutely love the cloth swim diapers and have never used the disposable ones. My kids are 5 & 3 and went to the pool all the time as babies/toddlers. The first ones I bought at Babies R Us and used them on both kids and then gave them to a friend who had kids younger than mine.It is definitely worth buying them as one is cheaper than a pack of disposable ones and last forever (the first one I bought over 4 yrs ago and is still being used by friends).

I used the ones from One Step Ahead with my daughter last summer, and they worked great. She never pooped in them, so I can't speak to that. Otherwise, I loved them and didn't have to worry about buying disposable diapers for all our trips to the pool.
