Ok so my son is giant (28 or29 lbs 30" 24 month or even 2t clothes) my problem is along with his largeness he has a large tummy. I don't like pitting him in pants because the waist band makes it look soo uncomfortable. Red marks, muffin top galore. I'm also cloth diapering which adds that lovely bulk everywhere. My question is how should I clothe him. I've used pants clear up to 4t to try and avoid the red marks and muffin top but then it to large everywhere. Currently we are just using 24 month rompers but they are soon going to get to small an eventually he Is goin to have to wear pants again with fall slowly approaching. I've tried the elastic waist band but I have strangly found it hard to find cute pants that don't look like they came from 1990. What do you guys think will work? Ps sorry for any typos I'm using my iPod and it's having troubles.

What can I do next?

Can you get the bigger size pants and just hem them? Its easy with a sewing machine, and probably not too expensive to have it done at a store if you don't.
That way you can get cuter clothes and have the length fit. :)

Our daughter uses the Fuzzy Bunz diapers for our grandson and those do add a big "addition" to the baby bottom don't they? I found that she usually rolled the pants up at the ankle...if you get those cute lined pants with the contrasting lining, it looks like you MEANT it to be that way as a fashion statement!!!
One plus for you in the midst of all of this....when your little one is no longer in diapers...the "big boy pants" give new life to all of the pants that he has outgrown!!! Our grandson is currently making that transition and pants that he wore 6 - 9 months ago suddenly fit perfectly again!!!

We have the same problem....I tend to roll up the pants so they aren't too long, but fit in the waist. Most of targets pants/shorts have adjustable elastic inside the waistbands of their zippered pants/shorts.

My children end up looking like hippie kids though with their elastic waistband pants.

I had the same problem with my son, perhaps he wasn't quite as big though. How about overalls? They don't have a waist band, so you wouldn't have the problem there. I had long pants overalls for cooler weather, shorts overalls for summer. They are harder to get on and off, but some kids are really hard to dress! I went from wondering what kind of fashion statement I could make with his clothes to just trying to keep him covered and comfortable.

I know they are expensive but try Osh Gosh or Old Navy pants that have the adjustable waist. They are more expensive, but I've found that with the adjustable waist they "grow" with your kid and they are able to wear them a bit longer. Also look for 24 month 36 month 48 month as they are wider to accommodate diapers vs 2T 3T and 4T that are maid with toddler/potty trained kids in mind. Again a lot more expensive but I have found these sizes at Toy's R Us and other child specialty shops Gymboree. It does suck as I switched to disposables when my son was just over a year because it was expensive finding clothing that would accommodate his large size and a cloth diaper. Now he is potty trained and so tall I have trouble finding pants long enough that will stay up with out the diaper bottom holding them up LOL.

Another option besides changing clothing is trying gDiapers. They have the cloth inserts and are much slimmer than most CDs. Perhaps this might lessen the bulkiness you explained.

I don't have the same exact problem, but I hate my little girl havng the whole muffin top thing. I also hate to see all the red marks jeans can leave behind. My sis in law found these cool jeans. They have an elastic band on the inside that are adjustible (you can make them smaller or larger). She got them at khols. Those are the only jeans I will put my baby in. I buy a little bigger (so she has room in her diaper area) and just sinch the waist with the elastic. Oh and no one can see the elastic, its totally hidden. Hope this helps. Good Luck! =)

My daughter is huge as well. She just turned 24 months and 35 pounds and 1 1/2 inches under 3 ft (34 1/2 inches tall)!! She's a big girl. Needless to say, my boys were the same way only much taller and much skinnier so she is my only reference to the pillow top. I have found that places that cater to kid's clothing is the best option, such as Children's Place. They have pants that have an adjust able waistband and typically I find success there. I have also found that some jeans like Levi brand has the option to buy, slim, regular or husky (my boys needed the slims and my daughter uses the husky boys).

I do have my daughter up to 4Ts now. She can wear 3T but they are edging it. Just go larger and try these other stores and see what you can find and good luck to you. Believe me they even out in a couple of years so it won't be a permanent problem.
