Mamas & Papas -

Hubs tells me I can't find it because it just doesn't exist. Is there a cleaning service I can retain to do a super deep spring cleaning. I am talking about washing the walls, removing the curtains and window fixtures, washing all the slipcovers on the furniture, emptying, washing, and restocking the cupboards, scrubbing the floors and the inside of the appliances.

Cleaning services I have hired to date have cleaned/dusted surfaces, the floors, stripped the beds, wiped doorknobs, baseboards, lightplates, and dusted door and picture frames. That's fine, but it doesn't amount to the super deep clean I am after.

Any thoughts/ ideas?

What can I do next?

You can hire a person to do all that - any of the ladies you see on Craigslist would probably do that for the right price. The services (most are franchises) don't offer that - they have set things they clean like doorknobs, picture frames, vacuuming, etc. But a random person who charges $20/hour for cleaning will do pretty much whatever you ask.

Yes, it does exist. Most cleaning services do offer this service at a higher cost, obviously. You probably won't find it advertised, but call some places to get a quote. I got several quotes to have my parents' house done when my little brother was diagnosed with cancer. After he got his first chemo treatment, I wanted the house to be spotless. It was expensive, because it requires a team of 2-3 people, but it does exist. I've thought about doing this before our baby is born at the end of the year. My husband and I both work and we just don't have the time to do it ourselves.

I've seen regular cleaning services advertise that they do deep cleaning. I'd call around and see what you can find.

There are window cleaning services. I've had that done.

Maybe I'll start my own company, because I've been looking too. And every time I hire someone, they say... first time is $100 more because we really have to clean. Well each time after seemed the same minimal time spent on cleaning. I'm six months pregnant and at home, u have no idea how many times I've looked at my blinds and thought....hmmmm how white can those get??? Lol... but now that I'm high risk, no chance I can get to it. Maybe after baby is born, unless there really is someone like that that does exist.

There are some services out there that do "Move out" cleaning - or MOVE IN cleaning - washing the walls, etc. you might be able to find that Molly Maids or some national chain will do it.

I know if you lived here in Northern Virginia, I could refer you to two companies that do the "Deep Clean" you are looking for - it's about $400 for a 3K square foot home. Maybe more. Tell them exactly what you expect - something very similar to a move-in/out cleaning...you won't know until you ask!!!

GOOD LUCK!!

I wonder if it really does exist, Momma! The last time I hired someone for it was after I had moved every single thing out of a house I was selling. I could have done what those people did almost as well, though I wouldn't have wanted to. Maybe my idea of deep cleaning isn't the same as theirs. It cost me enough considering I wasn't happy with it.

oh well!
