Okay ladies....

MY GF is here today and I'm doing my cleaning and we're yapping....she starts giggling at me when I was cleaning our bathrooms....

On the first of every month I take the shower curtains down and the shower mats and wash them....I also wipe the doors down and even the vanity drawers and doors! She said - oh my! You do a lot more than I do....

I change the sheets weekly...if it wasn't so expensive with electricity and water - i'd probably do it twice a week.
I clean the toilets weekly...
vacuum almost daily and swiffer mop almost daily as well...

Am I crazy?

WOW! Partyoffive....that was rude! She was over and we were yapping while I did my stuff so we could go workout...did SHE think I was being rude? NO WAY!! She KNOWS my routine and she helps sometimes too....she just laughed at my washing the door and knob/handle.....

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Don't get me wrong - I WISH my house was "pin neat" we've got our share of clutter....which I TRY to get rid of but SOMEHOW the stuff keeps coming in the door!! :)

Rachel - I'd love to come down to have lunch with you and yap with you!!!
I have two boys who are VERY active and a dog - so if I don't vacuum almost daily - it would just be TOTALLY disgusting!!!

I wash the bed linens (comforters, bed spreads) every three months (today is that day!!) as well....she thinks I'm nuts!! But what gets me? her house is clean and clutter free!! She's NOT lazy - she just doesn't see the point in washing the bathroom door and handle...

If I had my druthers - we would empty EVERY room out of the house and only put back in things that we have used in the last six months....good luck with that!! :) I get there....I have some rooms (formal living room and kitchen) that I am happy with...cleanliness wise...

THANKS!!

Not at all. Sounds about right to me. I mean, people poop in there for goodness sakes.

Now if you were down on the kitchen floor with a toothbrush daily, we might need to talk.

not crazy, but maybe a tad obsessive. I used to be like you, but somewhere along the way I decided if my house wasn't so perfect I could relax a little and have more time to spend with my kids. Clean is great. Pin neat...... maybe too much.

No - spot on.
If you don't do the weekly wiping/washing of these areas - so dusty/dirty and full of hair - bleck!

Crazy? No. Super-duper clean? Yes.

You clean a hell of a lot more than I do, too, but it's your house & if you're happy with it the way it is, I say more power to you!

wow that's what i would LOVE to do but life gets in the way. i think your house is probably cleaner than most but unless you're obsessive about it, i'd say that's a great thing. i'm always wishing i had the discipline to keep the house as clean as i want it to be!

I am with you - if electricity and water were not an issue I would be washing sheets like crazy mad! I love Clean Sheet Friday (I have a name for it b/c I LOVE the feeling of clean fresh sheets).

I just think you are young and energetic and full of clean expectations. I was this way in my 20's and 30's..not so in my 50's. I let it all go...

Sheets are done every couple of weeks.
Towels are done every couple of weeks, maybe weekly...hey, we're clean when we get out.
I finally hired a cleaning service, and they come every 2 weeks.
I do keep my own kitchen spic and span and shiny. I clean the microwave out often. Polish the sink. Light a candle when I'm not cooking.

Yep, you do a lot more than most. Perhaps you should start your own cleaning service with that kind of thoroughness?

yes. i wash when dirty not just because of the date. but f you feel you should and want to then go ahead. i don't think you do it too often just not as often as i or many may do them. of course there are many that wash things more often than you too.

i just feel that i'd rather spend my life doing something other than cleaning every day.

Similar to what I do.

Bathroom
- Toilet every day (I have boys in the house)
- Plastic shower curtain in the machine once a week w/ bleach
- Floor once a week
- Tub once a week
- Mirrors and cabinets once a week

- Sheets and towels get washed once a week

Part of my 'morning chores' (before school starts) is to dustmop them (like you, we have a dog who sheds constantly... in the spring the dustmop picks up enough hair for a new dog every day!) and wash them. Ditto I'm washing the counters at least once a day. Technically my morning chores are "Floors, counters, start a load of laundry" Takes me about 20 minutes every morning.

My house is a rumble/tumble disaster.

Those things above are just things I do to keep it livable / not gross.

NO! There's nothing nicer than a clean home. Cleanliness is a wonderful gift to give yourself and your family. Kudos to you for having the time and energy to get it all done! I also change sheets once a week and wash the shower mats monthly and always wipe down the vanity doors/drawers. I'm spraying sticky hairspray in there every day.

When I was a teenager I cleaned house for 10 different famlies and I scrubbed them from top to bottom. I used to keep my house spotless. I didnt have a job, and no kids the first 4 years we were married so I stayed home and cleaned all day. I was always cleaning doors and window sills, baseboards and light fixtures. I used to buy a new shower liner every few months but washed the outside pretty part every month. I kept the oven, stove, fridge and dishwasher looking like new. You could eat off my floor. Well, times changed! I did daycare for years and the house was clean enough to not scare away the parents but it was cluttered and had some cobwebs. I didnt keep up with it and figreprints and goo took over. Living in the same house for 33 years tends to make stuff collect and stack up and here we are now with dirt grime and junk surrounding us. I kept the daily stuff like dishes and laundry going. My kitchen isnt food poisen central, and the bathrooms are a couple steps above a gas station. I finally hired a young energetic gal to come help me once a month. She scrubs like I used to! She cleans the bathrooms, wiping down cabinet doors, the tops of the door frames, and 6 panels in the door, and tooth brushes around the faucet. As she does the floor on her knees, she gets the baseboards and walls around the toilet. When she does the kitchen she gets everything. Appliances, sink, walls, inside and out of the cabnet doors. I was really pleased to see how she did so much and shocked at how much I had let go. I feel caught up now and other than my own clutter from sewing and crafts I dont mind if company stops by now. The bathrooms are decent even days later, and I can do the dishes and the kitchen is ok. We use towels once, and sheets go in the wash every week or so if I remember. I think its great what you do, but I wonder if you will get burned out on scrubbing so much and someday find yourself just too darn tired of doing it all the time and hire someone to help. Back when I cleaned house for others I was paid (OMGosh this dates me) 50 cents per hour, and I was watching a house full of kids too. Now here I am paying a gal $20 an hour and all she has to do is the bathrooms and kitchen and yap with me the whole time! Well worth every penny too!

I never take down the shower curtain - I just spray it down with vinegar. I only wipe down doors and drawer fronts when I see something splattered on them.
I vaccuum the rugs and sweep the floors every few days - lots of dogs and cats. I mop once a week unless something nasty gets spilled.
Toilets get brushed out once a week.

I don't have a cleaning schedule, but I do make sure all of my "visible to guests" cleaning is done before any guests come into my home. I just don't feel comfortable cleaning anything more than surfaces like tables after eating or crafting or the kitchen counters after cooking in front of guests. The exceptions are if we're working on a project together like painting a room or clearing a room out and rearranging something and helping each other.

But I won't do laundry or other chores while guests are here unless they soil their clothes and need them clean and back immediately.

If you are doing your "Cleaning" while your BF is there that is pretty rude & crazy. Maybe do all your chores before you have company so they dont laugh at you for doing it while you have visitor. Thats an idea or what was your question? Are you crazy...yes a little.
