Hey everyone. We have recently moved into a house with scored concrete floors. The builder gave us a huge list of things not to use to clean the floors, basically no chemicals, no swiffer products, no vinegar, or the wax sealant could be damaged. He said to use plain water. This does not work for me. I have a husband and dog constantly tracking stuff in and a baby about to start crawling. There was one cleaner listed that we could use, some kind of specialty solution, that he said was pretty expensive and could only be bought at some flooring store. So my question is does anyone know of anything I can use to clean and disinfect these floors without damaging the protective wax layer.

Murphy's oil soap.it works wonders and won't damage the sealant.I have used it!!!! Alot cheaper too!!! 1/4 cup to every gallon of water.

For general cleaning first try water and scrub with a soft, non-metallic brush to see if this removes the surface dirt.
If that doesnt work, step up to water with a mild soap, then water with a stronger soap, then water with a stronger soap plus ammonia.
If a sealer has been previously applied to the concrete surface, the surface may only need a light, general cleaning and to have the sealer reapplied or touched up in high traffic areas.
However, if the concrete has ground in dirt or grime, the substance should be removed prior to installing a sealer. And the surface must be penetrated to do so.
I have concrete floors for 5 years now and love them!!! they are the easiest floors to take care of. What I use is water and I DO use some vinager in the water (to desinfect the floors). I mop the floors and about every 3 months we wax them with a product that we found in Home Depot. You just mop the floors with this wax and they look like brand new, beautiful and shinny!! This wax is specially for this floor. It costs about $30 a bottle but it lasts about 3 or 4 times, so about a little less than a year. And it's not sticky or anything like that. One product you absolutly don't want to use is clorox. I hope this helps.
Hi S., I know the cleaners at the flooring store are pricey, but if you have a health food store or natural food store. They may have something that is not harsh or you can look online for natural cleaners and solvents. I work for a wellness company so all my cleaners are non abrasive and environmentally friendly too.
try using laundry detergent, dish detergent, or any other mild soap product mixed with water.
