Childcare Dilemma... Please Help!

Have you tried cutting back on spending through coupons? I wish I had learned about all the tricks when I was working full-time because I would have paid off our mortgage or saved money so I could stay home full-time. I quit my job a few years ago and started a Web consulting business (something I've been doing as an employee for 15 years). It took a while to get it going so I turned to couponing so I could avoid going back to work for someone else. I cut our credit card bills for groceries and personal care/medications by more than 60%. It's a part-to-full-time job keeping up with all the sales and matchings, but it might be an option for you to try while you look for for a PT or other job.

I was bringing in 60% of our family income when I left my job, and my daughter has huge medical bills, so it was a bit of a risk for us, but it's worked out okay. I am making very limited money from consulting, but only because I haven't had time to work as much as I need to (too many doctor visits for my daughter, etc.).

The best work at home positions my friends have found are medical transcriptionist. A job isn't a sure thing, but I know many single moms who do it and are able to afford their own home and have cars that they can pay for, so they must make some money.

I write books, it is a stay at home job but not an industry I would wish on anyone. Very hard to get established and frustrating as can be.

Have you considered an au pair? They live in your home so you don't have to get the baby ready to go out and they can work any hours. I think their weekly limit is 45 hours though. The cost seems pretty reasonable compared to day care.
